  • Publication number: 20100152341
Abstract: Compacted additive blends, or polymer stabilization agent blends, can be added during the post-polymerization process to enhance the processability performance of polymers. The addition of certain compaction aids, such as high melting or non-melting metallic silicates and others, increases the resistance to friability of the compacted additive pellets. These compaction aids are non-migratory during the compaction process and after introduction into the polymer resin and thus have no deleterious effects. The additive blend can contain a variety of suitable additives in addition to the compaction aids.

  • Patent number: 7501464
Abstract: For producing an aliphatic polyester resin composition containing a thermal stabilizer and a carboxyl group-capping agent, the aliphatic polyester resin is first mixed in a hot-melt state with the thermal stabilizer and then mixed in a hot-melt state with the carboxyl group-capping agent. As a result thereof, the resultant aliphatic polyester resin composition is provided with better moisture resistance and noticeably improved heat resistance (less coloring) than in the case where these additives are simultaneously added to effect the hot-melt mixing.

Abstract: Benzoylresorcinol-based phosphate esters are obtained by reacting a benzoylresorcinol compound with a chlorophosphate. The benzoylresorcinol-based phosphate esters can function as flame retardants and/or UV stabilizers for polycarbonates (PC), poly(phenylene oxide) (PPO), polyesters (e.g., PET and PBT), polycarbonate and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene terpolymer (PC/ABS) blends, poly(phenylene oxide) and high-impact polystyrene (PPO/HIPS) blends and other polymers. The benzoylresorcinol-based phosphate ester flame retardants may possess enhanced thermal stability compared to resorcinol based phosphate ester (RDP). Synthetic procedures and applications of the benzoylresorcinol-based phosphate esters compounds are provided.
