Abstract: An ignition resistant carbonate polymer composition comprising a mixture of one or more carbonate polymers, and a high elastic memory polytetrafluoroethylene having a heat shrinkage equal to or greater than 15% with or without one or more organo phosphorous compounds.
Abstract: An aqueous, resinous solution of a curable, polymeric reaction product, the cured polymeric flame resistant coating and methods for producing them are provided. The solution is formed by direct reaction or prepolymer reaction and chain extension reaction of a methylol and/or hydroxyl-containing quaternary phosphonium compound, divalent nitrogen-containing compound and a heteroatom-containing compound. A nitrogen-containing compound has at least 2 active hydrogen and/or methylol radicals. The direct or prepolymer reaction has present a tertiary amine.
Abstract: Carbonate polymer compositions exhibit good thermal stability and good non-yellowing characteristics. Compositions comprise a carbonate polymer (e.g., a homopolycarbonate of bisphenol A), a heat stabilizing phosphorous compound (e.g., an organo-phosphite or an organo-phosphonite), an epoxy compound containing internal acyclic ether linkages (e.g., a diglycidyl ether of a polypropylene glycol), and optionally a hindered phenol. Such compositions retain desirable properties upon exposure to hot and humid conditions.
Abstract: A polycarbonate resin composition comprising a blended mixture of(A) a polycarbonate resin having a viscosity average molecular weight of from about 13,000 to about 18,000,(B) 0.0001 to less than 0.02% by weight, based on the weight of the resin (A), of an organic phosphine, and(C) 0 to 0.5% by weight, based on the weight of the resin (A), of a partial ester of a monobasic fatty acid having 10 to 22 carbon atoms with a polyhydric alcohol having 2 to 10 carbon atoms, the amount of the partial ester (C) being 0.01 to 0.5% by weight when the amount of the organic phosphine (B) is not less than 0.005% by weight, and said composition containing less than 0.004%, based on the weight of the resin (A), of chlorine.
Abstract: A halogen-free flameproofed thermoplastic molding material consists of a halogen-free thermoplastic resin (A) and one or more further halogen-free components. The thermoplastic resin (A) is present in an amount of from 30 to 90% by weight, based on the molding material. The latter contains, as further components, from 1 to 50% by weight of a phenol/aldehyde resin (B), from 1 to 50% by weight of a nitrogen-containing organic compound (C) and from 3 to 50% by weight of a phosphorus-containing organic compound (D), the percentages in each case being based on the molding material. The molding material is used for the production of flameproofed moldings.

Abstract: Polyhydroxybutadiene compounds are storage stabilized against reactivity changes by incorporating therein an effective amount of a di or triphenyl phosphine compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein each x is hydrogen, a halogen or an alkyl or alkoxy group having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms and y is an alkyl group having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms or an aryl group which may be substituted with a halogen or an alkyl or alkoxy group having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms.
Abstract: Substantially colorless, liquid compositions are described which are constituted by a phenolic antioxidant, or mixture of phenolic antioxidants, and at least one phosphine, the compositions being highly resistant to coloration phenomena. These compositions are effective stabilizers for organic polymers and, when incorporated in the said polymers, have a stabilizing power which is greater than that shown by the phenolic antioxidant or mixture of phenolic antioxidants alone.
