Abstract: This invention relates to a unique, efficient, concentrated synthetic thickener composition comprising a high molecular weight carboxyvinyl polymer, hydrocarbon solvent and cationic surfactant, a thickened concentrate formed by alkaline neutralization of said composition, an aqueous paste (cut clear) formed by dilution of said concentrate, textile print pastes containing said concentrate, and a method of thickening an aqueous system.
Abstract: A stable organic polymer-polyol-alkali metal silicate emulsion is produced by mixing an aqueous solution of an alkali metal silicate or alkali metal metasilicate pentahydrate, a liquid polyol, an organic polymer in a fluid state, and a small amount of an acid while heating the mixture to 40.degree. C. to 100.degree. C. and agitating until the mixture emulsifies. The emulsion may be used to produce organic polymer-polyurethane silicate foams and resinous product.
