    Abstract: The invention provides a rubber composition for golf balls which includes (A) a base rubber containing a polybutadiene having a cis-1,4 bond content of at least 60 wt %, (B) an unsaturated carboxylic acid and/or a metal salt thereof, and (C) a benzimidazole of general formula (1) or (2) below wherein R is a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group of 1 to 20 carbons, and m is an integer from 1 to 4, with the proviso that if m is 2 or more, each occurrence of R may be the same or different. The golf ball rubber composition of the invention enables a high-quality molded and crosslinked product having a suitable hardness and a high resilience to be obtained.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a cross-linkable, halogen-free, flame-resistant plastic mixture which can especially be used, in a cross-linkable state, for coating cables. The inventive plastic mixture comprises the following plastic components: (a) 3 to 50 weight parts (phr) of at least one ethylene copolymer from the group comprising ethylene vinyl acetates, ethylene ethyl acrylates, ethylene methyl acrylates or ethylene butyl acrylates, (b) 30 to 96 weight parts (phr) of a high-density polyolefin, especially a HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) having a density of >0.94 g/cm3, and (c) 1 to 20 weight parts (phr) of a polyolefin which has been grafted with a derivative of an unsaturated carboxylic acid, especially HDPE-g carboxylic acid derivatives. Components (a) to (c) together produce a total of 100 weight parts (phr) of plastic. The mixture also comprises the following components: (d) 40 to 250 weight parts (phr) of a filling material, and (c) 0.1 to 15 weight parts (phr) of a stabilizer system.

    Abstract: A composition, and a method of using the composition, are described which composition comprising: (A) at least one chlorinated polyvinyl chloride or mixture of at least one polyvinyl-chloride and at least one chlorinated polyvinyl-chloride thereof; (B) at least one volatile organic liquid which is a solvent for the polymer of (A); and (C) a stabilizer comprising (i) an organophosphite compound, at least one hindered phenol, at least one of an organotin compound or mixtures thereof, and (ii) at least one metal-containing carbonate salt. The composition and methods of the present invention act to retard the loss of chlorine from the resins of the adhesive compositions and to absorb or otherwise inactive any lost chlorine. The compositions of the invention are useful in a variety of applications including use as adhesives, cements (including solvent cements) glues or pastes for holding together materials by surface attachment, and as sealants which are load-bearing elastic jointing and insulating materials.

    Abstract: The invention relates to transparent, biaxially oriented and heat-set films having one or more layers and compris, as main constituent, at least one crystallizable thermoplastic, in particular a polyester, and also comprise at least one hydrolysis stabilizer. The hydrolysis stabilizer is preferably a phenolic compound, an oxazoline, and/or a monomeric or polymeric carbodiimide, where appropriate combined with an organic phosphite. It is preferably added in the form of a masterbatch. The film exhibits low longitudinal and transverse shrinkage. On exposure to moisture and heat it shows practically no embrittlement and retains its ultimate tensile strength. The additional functionality is preferably that the film has been made UV-resistant, or flame-retardant, or on one side or on both sides has been coated, or is sealable, and/or has been corona- or flame-treated.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for improving the shelf life of a hindered phenol antioxidant comprising the step of intimately mixing the hindered phenol antioxidant with a sulfur-containing peroxide decomposer. The inventors have discovered that mixing the peroxide decomposer with the hindered phenol antioxidant reduces the tendency of hindered phenols to yellow with age. This increases the desirability of the hindered phenol because it will not impart color to polymer systems. The present invention also relates to a composition produced from the process described above, and stabilized compositions and additive packages containing the composition produced from the above-described process.

    Abstract: The invention is directed to a new formulation for making a carboxylated polyacrylonitrile butadiene (usually referred to as nitrile in the glove industry) glove. The new formulation contains no accelerators commonly used in sulfur vulcanization. A sulfur free (including organic sulfur donors) crosslinking system is utilized. The invention provides formulations to make compounds and methods to make such gloves. The new formulations and procedures could be easily realized economically under common glove production lines. Depending on the desired applications, both powdered and powder free gloves are produced in the same formula.
