Abstract: A film that contains a thermoplastic polyurethane and water-soluble polymer is provided. The film is both elastic and water-sensitive (e.g., water-soluble, water-dispersible, etc.) in that it loses its integrity over time in the presence of water. The dual attributes of elasticity and water-sensitivity may be achieved by reducing the tendency of the thermoplastic polyurethane and water-soluble polymer to form separate phases. Namely, phase separation may cause the elastomer to act as a barrier and limit the ability of the water-soluble polymer to contact water and thereby disperse. To minimize such phase separation, a variety of aspects of the film construction may be selectively controlled, such as the nature of the thermoplastic polyurethane and water-soluble polymer, the relative amount of each component, and so forth.

Abstract: The invetion relates to a titanium dioxide-based photocatalyst containing carbon that is highly photoactive in visible light (vlp-TiO2) and to a method of manufacture. The vlp-TiO2is manufactured by mixing a fine grained titanium compount (BET?50 m2/g) with an organic carbon compound and subsequent thermal treatment at temperatures up to 350° C. The carbon content amounts to 0.05 to 4% by weight, preferably 0.4 to 0.8% by weight. The product is characterized by an ESR spectrum which displays only one significant signal in the g value range from 1.97 to 2.05 at g about 2.003. The inventive photocatalyst can be used for to degrade contaminants and pollutants in liquids and gases.

Abstract: Compositions of and processes for preparing a polyamine-polyamidoamine-epihalohydrin resin generally include reacting a first polyamine, a polyamidoamine, and an epihalohydrin to form the polyamine-polyamidoamine-epihalohydrin (PPAE) resin, wherein the polyamidoamine is prepared by reacting a polycarboxylic acid or a polycarboxylic acid derivative with a second polyamine to form the polyamidoamine, wherein a molar ratio of the polyamine to the polycarboxylic acid is 1.05 to 2.0. The PPAE resin can be used in an adhesive formulation for use in creping applications for forming paper products such as tissue products.

Abstract: The present invention relates to polyamide compositions having improved crystallization rates for blow molding articles having complex shapes. The use of tripentaerythritol in polyamide compositions slows down the crystallization rate of the polyamide compositions so that they can be used to blow mold large parts having an excellent surface appearance. Due to the longer crystallization times, these polyamide compositions can be used to blow mold very large and intricate parts.
