At Least Four -oh Groups, E.g., Pentaerythritol, Etc. Patents (Class 524/387)
  • Publication number: 20120177858
Abstract: The present invention relates to polyamide compositions having improved crystallization rates for blow molding articles having complex shapes. The use of tripentaerythritol in polyamide compositions slows down the crystallization rate of the polyamide compositions so that they can be used to blow mold large parts having an excellent surface appearance. Due to the longer crystallization times, these polyamide compositions can be used to blow mold very large and intricate parts.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to aqueous coating compositions, such as paints, containing a film-forming latex polymer and a reactive surfactant and/or a low VOC humectant. The reactive surfactant, a polyglycerol ester or ether of an unsaturated fatty acid, reduces or eliminates the need for traditional water-soluble additives that lower the water resistance of the dry coating. Additionally, the reactive surfactants of the invention are capable of oxidative cross-linking during the curing process, forming a dry film that is more durable and water-resistant than traditional latex paint composition. The low VOC humectant polyglycerol, isosorbide, or a derivative of isosorbide can replace at least in part traditional humectants such as propylene glycol which contribute to VOCs, while maintaining an effective open time for application of the aqueous coating compositions.

Abstract: The present invention includes processes and resulting structures for producing a modified polymer having interconnecting channels. The interconnecting channels act as controlled transmission passages through the polymer. A hydrophilic agent is blended into the polymer so that it is distributed within the polymer. In one embodiment, a releasing material is blended into the polymer so that the releasing material is distributed within the product. The product is solidified so that the hydrophilic agent forms passages in the product through which a desired composition is communicable to the releasing material that is entrained within the product. The solidified product may be used to form a desired shaped article such as plug type inserts and liners for closed containers, or it may be formed into a film, sheet, bead or pellet.
