  • Patent number: 10550222
Abstract: The present invention discloses a PBAT resin composition comprising following components: (a) poly(butyleneadipate-co-terephthalate); (b) iron element; wherein, based on a total weight of the PBAT resin composition, a weight content of the iron element is 1 ppm-500 ppm. By adding iron-containing compounds into the composition and controlling the content of the iron element in a range of 1 ppm-500 ppm in the composition, a speed of reaction of aromatic structure in the PBAT resin under a hot and humid condition can be postponed, so that after the prepared PBAT resin composition is aged in boiling water for 24 hours and 48 hours, a variation of b-value is less than 2. The PBAT resin composition has obviously improved color stability in resistance to boiling water aging.

The method comprises preparing a mixture of a thermoplastic polymer and an off-gassing compound, wherein the off-gassing compound is selected to release all water of hydration in response to target drying conditions specified for the thermoplastic polymer. The mixture is dried at actual drying conditions, and then heated to reduce the viscosity of the thermoplastic polymer and allow the mixture to flow. The mixture is then made to flow into a mold to form a plastic part at a molding temperature, wherein the molding temperature will cause any remaining water of hydration in the off-gas sing compound to off-gas and form surface irregularities in the plastic part. Non-limiting examples of the off-gassing compound include hydrated metal halides and ionic hydrates.

Abstract: A method of determining that a thermoplastic was insufficiently dried before forming into a molded plastic part.

  • Patent number: 8445025
Abstract: Disclosed are the nanoparticle and the method for the same, and the preparing method includes steps of mixing polyethylenimine (PEI) with the poly(acrylic acid)-bound iron oxide (PAAIO) to form a PEI-PAAIO polyelectrolyte complex (PEC) and mixing the PEI-PAAIO PEC with genetic material such as plasmid DNA to form the PEI-PAAIO/pDNA magnetic nanoparticle. The PEI-PAAIO/pDNA magnetoplex is highly water dispersible and suitable for long term storage, shows superparamagnetism, low cytotoxicity, high stability and nice transfection efficiency, and thus the PEI-PAAIO PEC can replace PEI as a non-viral gene vector.

  • Patent number: 8399099
Abstract: The present invention relates to cationically and radically curable coating compositions for coating a surface. The coating compositions consist essentially of a radically or cationically curable monomer, and a metal salt. The metal salt is chosen so that it is reduced at the surface to be coated, and where the standard reduction potential of the metal salt is greater than the standard reduction potential of the surface, and where when the composition is placed in contact with the surface, the metal salt of the composition is reduced at the surface, thereby initiating cure of the curable component in the compositions. Redox mediated cure of the coating compositions results in a coating or film on the surface. The invention also provides for functionalization of surfaces. Cross-linking of the coating occurs directly on the surface.
