Abstract: A thermoplastic resin composition of the present invention comprises: about 100 parts by weight of a rubber-modified aromatic vinyl-based copolymer resin containing a rubber-modified vinyl-based graft copolymer and an aromatic vinyl-based copolymer resin; about 0.1 to about 15 parts by weight of a polyalkyl(meth)acrylate resin; about 5 to about 20 parts by weight of a polyether ester amide block copolymer; and about 0.2 to about 5 parts by weight of sodium perchlorate (NaClO4). The thermoplastic resin composition is excellent in terms of static resistance, transparency, impact resistance, and the like.

Abstract: A resin composition useful for additive manufacturing is provided, which resin composition may exhibit improved shelf life through inhibition of crystallization. Abstract: The present disclosure relates to the technical field of pigment dispersing agents, and provides an acrylate comb dispersing agent and a preparation method and use thereof, and a white ink-jet color paste and a preparation method thereof. The dispersing agent provided by the present disclosure is similar to a comb in structure and is synthesized from a hydrophobic monomer (comb handle) and a hydrophilic macromonomer (comb teeth). The acrylate comb dispersing agent provided by the present disclosure is good in dispersity, capable of stably dispersing titanium dioxide, relatively low in molecular weight and capable of meeting the requirements of ink-jet ink. The white ink-jet color paste provided by the present disclosure is strong in stability and low in viscosity, is not easy to settle and flocculate, and meets the requirements of the ink-jet ink.

Abstract: New shape memory polymer compositions, methods for synthesizing new shape memory polymers, and apparatus comprising an actuator and a shape memory polymer wherein the shape memory polymer comprises at least a portion of the actuator. A shape memory polymer comprising a polymer composition which physically forms a network structure wherein the polymer composition has shape-memory behavior and can be formed into a permanent primary shape, re-formed into a stable secondary shape, and controllably actuated to recover the permanent primary shape. Polymers have optimal aliphatic network structures due to minimization of dangling chains by using monomers that are symmetrical and that have matching amine and hydroxyl groups providing polymers and polymer foams with clarity, tight (narrow temperature range) single transitions, and high shape recovery and recovery force that are especially useful for implanting in the human body.

Abstract: A facile procedure to deliver nanocrystals to the cytosol of live cells that is both rapid and general. Abstract: The invention relates to an aqueous fluoropolymer, and preferably polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), composition for manufacturing electrodes for use in non-aqueous-type electrochemical devices, such as batteries and electric double layer capacitors. The composition contains aqueous PVDF binder, and one or more powdery electrode-forming materials. In one embodiment, the composition is free of fluorinated surfactant In another embodiment, one or more fugitive adhesion promoters are added. The electrode formed from the composition of the invention exhibits interconnectivity and irreversibility that is achieved from the use of aqueous PVDF binder.
Abstract: A method of protecting wood through enhanced penetration of wood preservatives includes providing a solution including (a) at least one amine oxide, (b) at least one organic wood preservative and (c) a non-borate buffering based agent. The solution has a pH of 5 to 12.4 and preferably about 7 to 10. The solution is applied to the surface of the wood after which, with or without intervening storage, the materials are activated to effect enhanced penetration of the organic wood preservative into the wood. One may effect application at a solution temperature of about 30° C. to 75° C. and preferably about 50° C. to 60° C. to effect activation at a higher temperature and high relative humidity. In a preferred practice, the wood may be heated before and/or after application of the solution. The solution is also disclosed as a product.
Abstract: Polymer compositions including blends of approximately 90 to approximately 60 percent by weight acrylonitrile butadiene copolymer and approximately 10 to approximately 40 percent by weight polychloroprene copolymer are disclosed. Methods for manufacturing unsupported gloves and for supported gloves including a knitted liner with the polymer compositions, producing gloves having an ANSI abrasion resistance level 4, are also disclosed.

There are also provided a microparticle/polyrotaxane-containing coating film and a coated article. The microparticle/polyrotaxane-containing coating includes a solvent-based coating material, a modified polyrotaxane having a caprolactone modification group (—CO(CH2)5OH) and microparticles having an average particle size of smaller than 380 nm. The microparticle/polyrotaxane-containing coating film is in the form of a layer of the microparticle/polyrotaxane-containing coating on an article to be coated. The coated article includes the microparticle/polyrotaxane-containing coating film and an article to be coated.

Abstract: A composition that contains from 30 to 95 wt. %, based on the total weight of the composition, of a thermoplastic component and an effective amount of a flow-enhancing component. The effective amount of the flow-enhancing component reduces the viscosity of the composition by at least 10% compared to the viscosity of a composition comprising the thermoplastic component, but not an effective amount of the flow-enhancing component. The thermoplastic component is selected from the group consisting of polycarbonates, polyesters, and combinations thereof. The flow-enhancing component comprises b1) a component selected from the group consisting of metal oxides, metalloid oxides, metal alkoxides, metalloid alkoxides, and combinations thereof and b2) a mineral filler component. The weight ratio of component b1) to component b2) ranges from 1:25 to 25:1. A method for enhancing the flow of compositions comprising thermoplastic components is also disclosed.

Abstract: A coating containing pigment particles and a polymer matrix is provided. The coating contains pigment particles that have a scattering coefficient with a linear or quasi-linear relationship to the pigment volume concentration of those pigment particles. The coating has improved hiding and is useful as a protective coating or an aesthetic coating on an underlying substrate. Also provided are compositions useful for preparing the coating, including covalently bonded composite particles and aqueous dispersions containing composite particles. The composite particles each contain a pigment particle with a plurality of polymer particles attached by adsorption on the outer surface of the pigment particle or by covalent bonding to the pigment particle through a coupling agent. Methods to prepare the composite particles and coating compositions containing the composite particles are also provided.
Abstract: The problem to be solved is to provide a nondrying polymer hydrogel, which is not dried under atmospheric conditions and has excellent mechanical properties, and a method for producing the nondrying polymer hydrogel. A nondrying polymer hydrogel having both excellent nondrying properties and mechanical properties (e.g., excellent elongation properties, compression properties, and surface adhesiveness) can be produced by using a nondrying polymer hydrogel including a deliquescent substance in such a manner that the water vapor pressure shown by the polymer hydrogel is equal to or lower than the water vapor partial pressure in the atmosphere, in particular, by allowing a deliquescent substance to be contained at a high concentration in a polymer hydrogel having a network structure formed by a polymer of a water-soluble radically-polymerizable organic monomer having a specific chemical composition and a delaminated water-swellable clay mineral.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a one-pot synthetic method for synthesizing silver-containing waterborne polyurethane (WBPU). The method includes the steps of adding a silver ion-containing solution, such as silver nitrate solution, into WBPU emulsion to form a silver-containing PU emulsion by stirring, and dehydrating the silver-containing PU emulsion so as to obtain a WBPU containing nano-scaled silver particles having a uniform particle size and good dispersibility. The present invention provides a method that can be easily and speedily operated, and the silver-containing WBPU prepared according to the method of the present invention exhibits excellent antibacterial, bactericidal and deodorant effects but using a small amount of silver.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a block copolymer-containing composition includes PS-b-PXVP and a lithium salt, where “X” is 2 or 4. All lithium salt is present in the composition at no greater than 1 ppm by weight. In one embodiment, a homogenous block copolymer-including comprising has PS-b-PXVP present in the composition at no less than 99.99998% by weight, where “X” is 2 or 4. Methods of forming such compositions are disclosed.
