Abstract: New plastic compositions, made from a uniform mixture of thermoplastic resin and a naturally occurring aluminosilicate glass (NOAG) produce articles of manufacture by a variety of molding processes that have a more uniform and smoother surface with significantly reduced sink marks, and exhibit an improved dispersion of additives and pigments. The molding machines making articles from these compositions of thermoplastic resin and NOAG exhibit an increase in throughput, lower operating temperatures, less power consumption, reduced injection pressure, and increased injection speed. Running these synthetic plastic compositions through injection, extrusion and blow molding machines also tends to clean and lubricate the screw and the injector nozzles, increasing the life of the machine parts. The NOAG is preferably present in amounts ranging from 0.1% to 3.0% by weight of the composition.

Abstract: The invention is the manipulation of the zinc oxide content and sulfur content of nitrile butadiene rubbers and selected vulcanization conditions that can be achieved economically with common production facilities. The manipulation of these components affect the relaxation property of gloves formed by this material. Produced are gloves that have a relaxation property, higher than 50%, and a low modulus (approximately 3 Mpa). The glove maintains decent ultimate tensile strength (>20 Mpa) and elongation (>500%). The glove is produced by a vulcanization process which lasts from 5 to 60 minutes at temperatures ranging from 300° F. to 400° F. The tensile strength and elongation are well above the ASTM requirements for medical gloves. The current ASTM requirements are ASTM D412-92. Thanks to sufficient vulcanization, the films produced provide satisfactory protection from viral penetration. The tearing strength is also better because of the lower modulus.

Abstract: A thermoplastic polymer having a carbonyl-containing group and a nitrogen-containing 5-membered heterocycle-containing group in side chains, and a composition thereof. The thermoplastic polymer and composition thereof have excellent recycle property in that physical properties do not deteriorate even though formation of crosslinking and dissociation of crosslinking are repeatedly conducted with altering temperature. The thermoplastic polymer and composition thereof are that its crosslinked structure is considerably stable at room temperature, and therefore have considerably high tensile strength. In particular, in the case of bonding to a main chain at 3-position or 4-position of a nitrogen-containing 5-membered heterocycle, intermolecular hydrogen bond is caused, so that a cured product has high mechanical properties.

Abstract: A purging agent which contains an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer and which satisfies the conditions specified by the equations (1) and (2) below: 20≧BT(120)≧0.1  (1) 500≧BT(250)/BT(120)≧1.5  (2), where BT(120) is weight loss (%) on heating in nitrogen at 120° C. for 24 hours, and BT(250) is weight loss (%) on heating in nitrogen at 250° C. for 6 hours, rapidly discharges residual thermoplastic resin containing EVOH from molding equipment, and also rapidly discharges itself when a fresh resin is fed again to the equipment. This leads to a remarkable reduction in loss due to residual purging agent. In addition, the purging agent causes only a small amount of resin to stick to the equipment, even after repeated purging. After purging, it is possible to restore normal operation within a short period of time.
