  • Patent number: 6005041
Abstract: A novel, flexible composition is disclosed which contains reinforcement encased in intimate contact with a melt blended mixture of low durometer polymer gel. The reinforced polymer has unique properties obtained from the combination of reinforcement and elastomeric gel. Density, thermal conductivity, flexibility, elongation and strength are some of the properties which may be tailored by modifying the reinforcement and polymers. The combination of reinforcement with thermoplastic and oil create a gel and allows for deformation and impact resistance not obtainable with standard elastomers including vinyl, rubber or silicon. The addition of reinforcement makes it possible to tailor the gels properties while still maintaining many of its unique attributes. Particulate reinforced parts can be formed into a desired shape and take on some of the properties of the reinforcement. They can be deformed during use, but because these elastomeric gels have a high elastic memory, they return to their original shape.

Abstract: Atomized metal particles distributed within a resin matrix form a composite that can be selectively heated by exposure to microwave radiations. The composites can also be formed into non-electrically conductive but thermally conductive dielectric and magnetic structures by appropriate selection of metal particles and matrix materials. In other applications, metal particles are gradually distributed within a layer of resin matrix to create an electro magnetic radiation-absorbing medium used in the fabrication of anechoic and shielding structures.

  • Patent number: 5783621
Abstract: A method is described for determining high performing anti-bleed agents by comparing the structural characteristics of a compound to specified ranges of structurally-based variables. These structurally-based variables are determined by first comparing the structural characteristics of the best performing anti-bleed agents in a first set of computer simulations of anti-bleed agent candidates in a die attach adhesive on a substrate. The effects of other anti-bleed agent candidates are determined by plotting the structurally-based variables against modeled bleed. Predictive ranges are determined by the performance groups of the candidates with the coincidentally lowest bleed. Also disclosed are organic-based formulations suitable for assembling semiconductor devices including die attach adhesive useful for bonding a semiconductor device to a substrate that incorporates selected anti-bleed agents and which may additionally contain a filler.

  • Patent number: 5756008
Abstract: A silver composition is disclosed which contains silver powder or flake, a water soluble binder, an organic water soluble solvent and an inorganic binder. Generally, the composition will also contain water. The water soluble binder is especially chosen such that it has the property after dissolution in water, followed by water removal that it can be again dissolved in water (as opposed to water resistance as in a paint). The silver composition as a film or coating also lacks water resistance (prior to a firing operation) which can aid in pattern formation.
