Patent number: 4781781Abstract: A solid flexible polymeric material is formed by solidifying a water-based latex which contains an inorganic filler. The filler is sand and this may be stabilized in the latex with xanthan gum. The solid material may be a foamed or non-foamed layer which may be used as integral carpet backing, as carpet underlay, or as an adhesive for bonding a reinforcing fabric to the back of carpeting.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1987Date of Patent: November 1, 1988Inventor: Gerald Hallworth

Patent number: 4731143Abstract: A thin tough glossy surface may be applied to a flexible substrate in a one step process comprising: applying an aqueous thin film of a compound of a polymer to an endless carrier belt made of a material having a low adhesion to said polymer, contacting the flexible substrate and coated carrier belt and keeping them together while they pass around a hot drum laminator at a temperature of from about 100.degree. to about 150.degree. C.The process is suitable for applying impermeable surfaces to non wovens, and foam backed carpet.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1986Date of Patent: March 15, 1988Assignee: Polysar Financial Services, S.A.Inventor: Jimmy D. Patent number: 4645788Abstract: The cold resistance of chloroprene rubber can be improved by blending an ester derived from a specified glycol component and a specified fatty acid component without any adverse effect upon the other physical and chemical properties of the rubber. This ester is not extracted with oily matters such as oil or grease, so that the resulting chloroprene rubber composition hardly exhibits a decrease in cold resistance even after extraction with oily matters.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 1985Date of Patent: February 24, 1987Assignees: Kao Corporation, Toyoda Gosei Co. Ltd.Inventors: Tadaoki Okumoto, Rikizo Nakata, Masayoshi Ichikawa, Masaaki Tsuchihashi, Koichi Sakai
