Abstract: Provided is an insulating layer in which an inorganic material is added to an organic polymer to thereby improve the insulating properties, an organic thin film transistor using the insulating layer, and a method of fabricating the organic thin film transistor. An insulating layer for an organic thin film transistor including a vinyl polymer and an inorganic material is provided. Here, a weight ratio of the vinyl polymer to the inorganic material may be in the range of 1:0.0001 to 1:0.5. Accordingly, it is possible to fabricate a thin film at low temperature and, further, to fabricate an insulating layer having a high-dielectric constant, not affecting other layers formed in the previous processes during the formation of the insulating layer.

  • Patent number: 7332532
Abstract: An ink-jet ink which includes a liquid vehicle and a polymer-dispersed pigment dispersed in the liquid vehicle is disclosed and described. More specifically, the polymer-dispersed pigment can include a pigment encapsulated with a polymer having hydrophilic and hydrophobic moieties. The polymer can be a polymerization product of at least a first monomer having a hydrophilic group, and a second monomer having a hydrophobic group. Further, the polymer can be configured such that the polymer-dispersed pigment is stable in the liquid vehicle at a pH of from about 5.5 to about 8.5. Such polymer-dispersed pigments allow for formation of ink-jet inks with improved options for bleed control mechanisms and increased reliability of ink-jet architecture.

  • Patent number: 7304099
Abstract: The invention relates to an improved system for inkjet printing which results in images with increased permanence as measured by transfer of color from the image when the image is subjected to mechanical and/or chemical abrasion. The invention provides a fusible material that may be combined with any or all of the color inks used to create the image, or it may be used as a colorless fluid applied pre- or post-printing. The permanence of images produced by the system are comparable to those produced by electrophotography. The invention also relates to a printing apparatus that contains a means for fusing the image using heat applied after the printed substrate is ejected from the printer.

  • Patent number: 7304103
Abstract: The present invention incorporates new processes for blending derivatized carbon nanotubes into polymer matrices to create new polymer/composite materials. When modified with suitable chemical groups using diazonium chemistry, the nanotubes can be made chemically compatible with a polymer matrix, allowing transfer of the properties of the nanotubes (such as mechanical strength) to the properties of the composite material as a whole. To achieve this, the derivatized (modified) carbon nanotubes are physically blended with the polymeric material, and/or, if desired, allowed to react at ambient or elevated temperature. These methods can be utilized to append functionalities to the nanotubes that will further covalently bond to the host polymer matrix, or directly between two tubes themselves.
