Patent number: 6447553Abstract: A radiation curable monomer and a dystuff are mixed in a curable formulation and fed into a hot evaporator under vacuum. The blend is flash evaporated through a nozzle and recondensed onto a moving substrate in contact with a temperature-controlled rotating drum. The condensed film is then crosslinked with a high-energy ultraviolet or electron-beam radiation source to effect cross-linking of the monomer. The resulting product consists of a crosslinked polymer matrix incorporating dyestuff molecules within its structure, which dramatically enhances the durability, solvent resistance, heat stability and migration fastness of the product. These properties can be further improved by chemically bonding the dyestuff molecules with the crosslinked polymer network, which can be accomplished by judiciously functionalizing the dyestuff with appropriate functional groups designed to polymerize or to react with the curable monomer.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2000Date of Patent: September 10, 2002Assignee: Sigma Technologies International, Inc.Inventors: Michael G. Patent number: 4724250Abstract: A one-component molding material based on polyisocyanato-isocyanurates and flameproofing and fireproofing agents, as well as optionally polyisocyanates, fillers and promoters is described which comprises 40 to 80% by weight of the isocyanurate of 1,6-hexamethylene diisocyanate, 0 to 20% by weight of crude MDI and/or prepolymer of polyol and crude MDI and/or isophorone diisocyanate optinally in combination with further isocyanate groups containing compounds, 5 to 20% by weight of a fireproofing mixture mainly consisting of secondary ammonium phosphate, 0 to 50% by weight filler and 0 to 5% by weight promoter. This low viscosity putty-like mass which is cold-workable and is cured under the influence of moisture, especially at increased temperatures, is useful as construction material for many applications, especially for the manufacture of molded components and plate elements for the construction of land, air and water vehicles.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1987Date of Patent: February 9, 1988Assignee: Mankiewicz Gebr. & Co. Patent number: 4619990Abstract: Polymeric dyes having pendent chromophore groups which are selected from azo, tricyanovinyl, anthraquinone, methine, and indoaniline groups fall into two classes, [A] condensation polymers, and [B] polymers derived from copolymerized ethylenically-unsaturated monomers, the dyes being capable of undergoing thermoplastic deformation by a focused laser beam when in a layer of thickness in the range of 0.1 to 100 micrometers and having an absorptivity in the range of 10 to 250 Lg.sup.-1 cm.sup.-1. They are film-forming, thermally- and light-stable, and solvent-coatable. These compounds are useful as coloring and light-absorbing agents, particularly as the light-absorbing agents in thin optical recording layers.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1985Date of Patent: October 28, 1986Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Mohamed A. Patent number: 4535121Abstract: An adhesive for flocking elastomers, more especially apolar elastomers, such as EPDM. The adhesive contains an isocyanate-terminated polyurethane prepolymer and, as an adhesion promoter, a reaction product of an aromatic diisocyanate with a polyfunctional epoxide, particularly triglycidyl isocyanurate. The strength of adhesion and resistance of the bonds can be further increased by the addition of aromatic nitroso compounds, for example, 1,4-dinitrosobenzene.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1984Date of Patent: August 13, 1985Assignee: Henkel Kommanditgesellschaft auf AktienInventors: Riza N. Patent number: 4405751Abstract: Aminoplastic resin dispersions which are stable to sedimentation are obtained by condensation of aldehydes with aminoplastic resin formers in an aqueous medium, in the presence of water-soluble compounds of the formulaR--X--(A--O).sub.m --B--NHCONH--Y].sub.nhaving the substituent meanings mentioned in the description. The condensation is preferably carried out in the presence of dyestuffs or optical brighteners which have groups capable of condensation. The dispersions obtained thereby are particularly suitable for whitening the coating compositions used in the paper industry, and for coating paper, wood, films and textile materials.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 1982Date of Patent: September 20, 1983Assignee: Bayer AktiengesellschaftInventors: Hanns P.
