  • Patent number: 7528191
Abstract: The invention relates to a composition, in particular a pulverulent master batch, comprising at least one nanoclay composed of a swellable inorganic layered material which has been modified by at least one siloxane component and by at least one non-anionic organic compound which has at least one aliphatic or cyclic radical having from 6 to 32 carbon atoms. The pulverulent master batch can result in a homogeneous mixture with a polymer powder and can be used as such. Also, a polymer master batch can be produced by compounding of the pulverulent master batch with a carrier polymer. The pulverulent master batch or the polymer master batch can be used as filler or in filler systems in various polymer compositions.

  • Patent number: 7332227
Abstract: A non-volatile lubricious coating composition is provided for use with medical devices, such as hypodermic needles, catheters, and the like. The coating composition includes a first siloxane polymer having a very low viscosity less than about 50 centistokes, a second siloxane polymer having a high viscosity greater than about 1,000 centistokes, a reactive silicone polymer which is capable of crosslinking upon exposure to radiation, such as a UV curable silicone acrylate, and a photoinitiator to accelerate cross-linking of the reactive silicone polymer. The coating composition may further include an aminofunctional siloxane polymer to promote adhesion to metal surfaces when used with needles. The coating composition provides flowability without the need for any volatile organic solvent, and is capable of curing to provide adhesion and lubricity.

  • Patent number: 7307123
Abstract: A photocurable composition, including (a) a photocurable monomer, e.g. a cationically curable monomer and/or a radically curable monomer; (b) reactive particles comprising a crosslinked elastomeric core, e.g. made of polysiloxane material, and a shell of reactive groups on an outer surface of the core, wherein the reactive groups comprise epoxy groups, ethylenically unsaturated groups, or hydroxy groups; and (c) an appropriate photoinitiator, e.g. a radical photoinitiator; and a cationic photoinitiator. A method of making a 3-D object from such a composition and a 3-D object made by the method are also provided. The cured composition generally has a smooth surface. The use of the reactive particles makes the composition more stable and the particles do not readily separate out.
