    Abstract: The present invention relates to a polyphenylene ether resin composition, and a prepreg and a copper dad laminate made therefrom. The polyphenylene ether resin composition comprises: (A) functionalized polyphenylene ether resin, (B) crosslinking agent, and (C) initiator; the component (A) functionalized polyphenylene ether resin is polyphenylene ether resin that has a number average molecular weight of 500-5000 and unsaturated double bonds at the molecule terminal; the component (B) crosslinking agent is olefin resin with a number average molecular weight of 500-10000, of which styrene structure comprises 10-50 wt %, and of which the molecule comprises 1,2-addition butadiene structure. The polyphenylene ether resin composition of the present invention is a composition of functionalized polyphenylene ether resin with a low molecular weight. The prepreg and copper clad laminate made from the polyphenylene ether resin composition have good dielectric properties and heat resistance.

    Abstract: A plastic pallet having a fire retardant. The fire retardant is prepared in an FR masterbatch before mixing with HDPE to form the pallet. In one embodiment, the FR masterbatch includes a brominated fire retardant, a hydrated mineral, antimony trioxide and a carrier resin. In some embodiments, the brominated fire retardant is a non-blooming brominated fire retardant such as poly pentabromobenzyl acrylate or ethylenebistetrabromophthalamide. The hydrated mineral advantageously enhances both the vapor phase and condensed phase fire retardant properties of the final product and may be magnesium hydroxide. In other embodiments, melamine pyrophosphate or a blend of melamine pyrophosphate and polyhydric compound may be substituted for the hydrated mineral or used as the sole fire retardant. The polyhydric compound may be bis-pentaerythritol phosphate alcohol. A method of manufacturing a plastic pallet is also disclosed.

    Abstract: A fire extinguishing adhesive film includes outer layers of adhesive and an inner fire extinguishing core comprising a layer of resin containing a high concentration of fire retardant. Low levels of fire retardant may be blended into the adhesive layers, although it is preferred that the adhesive be pure. Polyurethane resin allows for a fire retardant loading of 86% by weight in the fire extinguishing core, and therefore provides significantly higher yields of fire retardant per unit area of the film without compromising adhesive performance.

    Abstract: The invention is directed to polyimide based adhesives having a coefficient of thermal expansion (“CTE”) equal to or below 50 ppm/° C. The adhesives of the present invention contain a polyimide base polymer present in the overall adhesive in an amount from 25 to 95 weight percent. The polyimide base polymer has a glass transition temperature (“Tg”) in a range of from about 150 to about 300° C. and typically has a coefficient of thermal expansion above 50 ppm/° C. The polyimide based adhesives of the invention also contain an aramid micro fiber filler in an amount from 5 to 75 weight percent, based upon the total weight of the polyimide based adhesive. The fiber filler can be used to lower CTE of the overall adhesive to match (or nearly match) the CTE of other materials like metal, silicon wafers, other polymers (including polyimide) and the like.
