    Abstract: A continuous process for the grafting of ethylenically unsaturated monomers onto homopolymers of ethylene and copolymers of ethylene and C.sub.4 -C.sub.10 higher alpha-olefins is disclosed. The process involves feeding to an extruder an admixture comprising (i) a major portion of the above polymer of ethylene, (ii) the monomer, (iii) 25-500 ppm of an organic peroxide and (iv) a minor portion of a normally solid thermoplastic polymer having a melting point of less than 185.degree. C. and a shear viscosity at 200.degree. C. and a shear rate of 400 sec.sup.-1 that is not more than 50% of that of the polymer of ethylene. The organic peroxide is in the form of a composition with the thermoplastic polymer. The admixture is mixed in a first zone at a temperature above the melting point of the polymers for at least ten seconds but for less than 25% decomposition of the peroxide and then in a second zone for a period that is at least four times the half-life of the peroxide.

    Abstract: A polymer blend capable of being molded to an impact resistant, article which comprises a vinyl halide homopolymer or copolymer, a conventional impact resistant enhancing polymer agent for polyvinyl halide wherein the monomer units consist essentially of acrylonitrile, 1,3-butadiene and styrene residues and a thermoplastic block elastomer wherein the essential and predominant monomer units are the residue of a mono-alkenyl aromatic hydrocarbon and the residue of an alkadiene hydrocarbon. The thermoplastic elastomer is normally incompatible with the vinyl halide polymer or copolymer. The vinyl halide polymer or copolymer constitutes the major proportion of said blend and the block and methacrylate polymers together constitute a minor proportion of the composition. The weight ratio of block polymer to acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene polymer is preferably about 1:5 to about 5:1.

C. to about 50.degree. C., and a pressure sufficient to maintain the chlorine in its liquid state.

    Abstract: Particulate rubber is intimately and uniformly coated with an anti-cake(s) and pressed at mild temperatures to form friable rubber bales. The bales have a bulk density from about 1.3 to about two times that of the original particulate rubber and are capable of being handled as a slab and of supporting a direct load, yet break down under shear to form particles substantially similar in size and distribution to that of the original particulate rubber.

    Abstract: A method of promoting peroxide initiated crosslinking of polar polymers whereby the solubility of peroxide vulcanizing agents in these materials is increased. Increased peroxide solubility and/or processibility is accomplished by blending certain ethylene copolymers with these highly polar polymers. The blending of ethylene copolymers with the polar polymers substantially reduces the viscosity of the latter polymers thereby enhancing their processibility.
