Abstract: The invention relates to a process for preparing polymers for coating applications by polymerizing esters of acrylic acid or of methacrylic acid or vinyl aromatics or other free-radically polymerizable vinyl compounds or monomer mixtures composed predominantly of such monomers by means of a continuous polymerization process. In particular, the invention relates to a solvent-free preparation process for polymers, through which the binder can be prepared for coating applications with superior processing properties, very good thermal stability, improved pigment wetting and a higher gloss.

Abstract: The present invention is to provide a super-absorbent resin which can be used to design an absorbing core or absorbing goods capable of being flown into a flushing toilet. The present invention relates to a super-absorbent resin having as a main component thereof a repeating unit having an ionic dissociation group in its main or side chain, wherein said resin has absorption capacity without load to saline solution (CRCs) for 4 hours of not smaller than 10 g/g, and solubility in ion-exchanged water of not lower than 50% by weight.
Abstract: A process for producing a phenylene ether oligomer comprising oxidative polymerization of a specific bivalent phenol compound and a specific monovalent phenol compound in an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent, wherein the aromatic hydrocarbon solvent of a phenylene ether oligomer solution obtained after the termination of the polymerization is replaced with a water-soluble organic solvent having a boiling point higher than that of the aromatic hydrocarbon solvent and the resultant phenylene ether oligomer solution is brought into contact with water, thereby precipitating the phenylene ether oligomer as particles.
Abstract: Ampholytic copolymers which contain a molar excess of anionogenic and/or anionic groups, polyelectrolyte complexes which contain such an ampholytic copolymer, cosmetic and pharmaceutical compositions which contain at least one such copolymer or polyelectrolyte complex and the use of these copolymers and polyelectrolyte complexes are described.
Abstract: An extrudate comprising an inorganic oxide and a comb-branched polymer is disclosed. The calcined extrudates are useful catalysts or catalyst supports. A palladium-gold catalyst prepared with a calcined titania extrudate of the invention is useful in making vinyl acetate from ethylene, acetic acid, and oxygen or oxygen-containing gas. A calcined transition metal zeolite extrudate of the invention is used as a catalyst in oxidizing organic compounds with hydrogen peroxide. Incorporation of a comb-branched polymer improves the mechanical properties of inorganic oxide extrudates.
