  • Patent number: 10682769
Abstract: A tower closing apparatus is provided that is configured to simplify the closing of a multi-piece, hinged hydroponic tower. The hydroponic tower closing apparatus utilizes a collection of static and continuously moving components (e.g., motor driven drive rollers, alignment rollers, tower body alignment rollers, face plate manipulation rollers, face closing rollers, etc.) to close a hydroponic tower as it passes through the apparatus. In particular, as the tower is driven through the closing apparatus, a series of face plate manipulation rollers gradually rotate the face plate(s) relative to the tower body, moving the face plate(s) from a fully open position to a partially closed position. Next a series of face closing rollers continue to rotate the face plate(s) from the partially closed position to the fully closed position, forcing the fasteners to latch the face plate(s) into position.

  • Publication number: 20090064635
Abstract: A tape applying device includes a plate, front and rear swinging arms pivoted on the plate, a pressing wheel pivoted on each of the swinging arms to make an adhesive tape stick on a box, a connecting rod pivoted to both the front and the rear swing arms, a cutting mechanism interposed between the front and the rear swinging arms to sever the adhesive tape, a first restoring extension spring joined to the connecting rod, and a second restoring extension spring joined to the rear swinging arm; the front swinging arm is co-movable with the rear swinging arm and the connecting rod, and it has no extension spring directly connected thereto therefore the front pressing wheel won't produce such a reacting force as to cause a box to cave in when the box is moved rapidly onto the front pressing wheel for the adhesive tape to stick thereon.

  • Patent number: 7478514
Abstract: The packaging method glues or otherwise secures a sheet of shrink wrap film to the bottom of a shipping package or carton. The sheet extends upward on both sides so as to be temporarily attached to the flaps of the shipping carton, typically by dots of glue. After the contents are placed in the shipping carton, the film is folded over the contents. Then a label, typically with a bar code, holds the film in place. The package is scanned to assure that the label is in place, and the package is exposed to a heat tunnel to shrink the shrink wrap film. The flaps of the carton are then sealed in a conventional way.

  • Patent number: 6453805
Abstract: A large round baler has an expansible baling chamber defined, in part, by a plurality of side-by-side mounted belts that act to roll up crop to form a bale within the chamber. The baler is equipped with a twine wrapping arrangement which leaves loose twine ends adjacent one of the ends of the wrapped baler. In order to secure these loose ends, there is provided an adhesive tape dispensing arrangement, which cooperates with the bale-forming belt that is aligned with the area of the bale on which the loose twine ends lie, so that a length of adhesive tape is selectively fed into the bale chamber by the bale-forming belt such that it is wrapped about the bale in covering relationship to the loose twine ends. A separating arrangement is provided for causing that part of the length of adhesive tape that is wrapped about the bale to be separated from the supply roll of tape.

  • Patent number: 6318048
Abstract: A mast and trolley assembly for a case sealer machine includes a set of fixed bearing members mounted upon the trolley assembly, and a set of movably adjustable bearing members mounted upon the trolley assembly such that opposite sides of the trolley assembly will engage the mast member with the proper degree of tension whereby adjustable vertical movements of the trolley assembly along the mast member are smoothly accomplished without any play or chatter. The machine head assembly is also bolted to the trolley assembly such that replacement or exchange of different sized head assemblies are readily, easily, and quickly achieved. A coiled spring mechanism is mounted upon the mast member and operatively attached to the trolley assembly so as to counterbalance the weight of the trolley and head assemblies thereby rendering the vertical adjustments of the head and trolley assemblies along the mast member easy to achieve in a counterbalanced manner.

  • Patent number: 6253820
Abstract: By providing a system for controllably applying and wrapping a label into direct, secure, affixed adhesive engagement with the flange or lip of a container, a dependable, effective, and reliable label applying apparatus and label application method is realized which securely affixes a tamper evident label in its entirety to a product container on a continuous production basis, totally eliminating unwanted tenting of labels. By employing the present invention, a product holding container, having a forwardly protruding lip or flange, is advanced towards a label dispensing zone with the label positioned for contacting the top surface of the forwardly protruding flange. Once the label is attached thereto, the label bearing flange/lip is advanced into contact with the label wrapping cam means for placing the label in the desired position.
