With Resilient Faces Patents (Class 53/345)
  • Patent number: 11584569
Abstract: A closure includes a top panel and a corner section connecting an outer periphery of the top panel with a downwardly extending annular skirt. A plurality of gently curved ridges are spaced about the outer perimeter of the closure. The ridges generally extend from a lower portion of the skirt and around the corner section, with the upper ends of the ridges terminating proximate the top panel outer periphery. A plurality of knurls extend radially outwards from the midpoints of the ridges along the skirt of the closure. The configuration, arrangement, and spacing of the ridges and knurls about the closure provide an enhanced grip and feel, allowing for easier twist-off of the closure from a container. The closure may be used interchangeably with existing capping chucks used to apply conventional closures without requiring any modification to the capping chucks to apply the closures to containers during a capping process.

  • Patent number: 4912905
Abstract: The invention relates to a contact pressure element for metal foil blanks laid around the neck and top of bottles (3) in a labelling machine. Retained by a retaining ring (5) in front of the opening of a casing (1) having a bell-shaped inner wall (7) is a resilient plate (2) whose front side facing the end face of the bottle (3) is made of an open-pored resilient foamed plastics, the rear side of the plate (2) being constructed with closed pores and its peripheral edge being formed with an annular bead (8). When the contact pressure element makes an axial movement towards the end face of the bottle (3), the plate (2) yields to the axial pressure, its rear side rolling down the bell-shaped inner wall (7) in the zone of the annular bead (8), so that the front side of the plate (2) is brought into radial contact pressure with the side of the bottle top in the zone of the annular bead (8). Such contact pressure is produced without folding the plate (2) and substantially without warping.

  • Patent number: 4621481
Abstract: A closure head for securing a sealing cap having a disc-like top and a cylindrical skirt to a container comprises a central plunger slidable in a counter-pressure plunger between extended and retracted positions with respect thereto, a spring normally urging said central plunger to the extended position, a closure sleeve composed of a plurality of arms surrounding the counter-pressure plunger, each having at the free end thereof a clamp shoe provided with an inwardly projecting clamp rim and a radially outwardly directed inclined surface, a support sleeve for carrying said counter-pressure plunger and closure sleeve, a casing surrounding the support sleeve and supporting the latter therein, said casing being provided with a wear ring having an inclined surface in sliding contact with the inclined surfaces on the clamp shoes for closing the container upon sliding movement of the inclined surfaces of the clamp shoes along the wear ring, and the inwardly projecting clamp rim at the end of said each arm forming t

  • Patent number: 4312168
Abstract: The device comprises a first pair of pressure chambers, the facing inner walls of which are provided with contoured pleating pads, and a second pair or pressure chambers, the facing inner walls of which are provided with contoured pressing and lapping pads, each said pad being outwardly shaped to substantially correspond to the shape of a bottle neck. The pleating pads have a substantially constant thickness when the pressing and lapping pads have lateral end portions of a greater thickness than the mid-portion thereof. The method comprises the step of first pressure applying the pleating pads, then the pressing and lapping pads to tightly press the cap onto the bottle neck with formation of two symmetrical pairs of outwardly extending pleats, to retract all the pads and to bring back the pressing and lapping pads into pressure contact against the neck to cause said lateral end portions thereof to overflow around the bottle neck, thereby to fold or lap over the thus formed pleats.

  • Patent number: 3984965
Abstract: A device for engaging a bottle cap and turning it on to the threaded finish of a bottle pivotally mounts a plurality of segments in a circumferential pattern with portions of the segments having vertical surfaces for engagement with the sides of the bottle cap and other portions extending inwardly radially and provides a lifting member for engaging the same so as to pivot the segments and move them toward and away from the sides of a bottle cap being rotated by the device.
