Abstract: Knitted netting is applied to products in a machine. A chute receives products serially through a receiving end, as from a conveyor, and discharges them serially into netting preferably rucked on the chute. As each product arrives at the product receiver, voiders operate to form a rope section of the netting behind the product, at the chute's discharge end. The clipper also clips the netting, to complete the netting of the product, and clips to create the starting end of the next netted product. A netting handle former operates to loop the rope section behind the product, before clipping, to form a looped handle for a product in the rope section of the netting. The netting that is clipped behind the products is the netting formed into the loops, and thus, the clips that are put on by the clipper secure the loops in their size and condition.

Abstract: An apparatus for encasing material in continuous roll stock netting is described. The apparatus has a product horn axially aligned with and diametrically opposed to a mandrel over which continuous roll stock netting has been placed. The mandrel is movable into a passageway between two gates and the netting is engaged by a set of claws, after which the mandrel retracts. A set of claws holds the netting open as a ram pushes the material through the product horn into the open netting. The first gate gathers the open end of the netting for closure by a clipper. The second gate gathers the netting and a set of adjustable clamps retracts the netting, pulling the netting tightly over the material. A second clipper clips and severs the gathered netting to enclose the material in the netting.

Abstract: Waste disposal device including a housing defining a waste compartment for receiving enclosed waste, flexible tubing received in the housing and which operatively receives waste therein, a retention mechanism for holding a quantity of waste received in a length of the tubing and a rotation mechanism for rotating the retention mechanism when the quantity of waste is held thereby and while a remaining length of the tubing is rotationally held stationary in order to twist the length of tubing receiving the waste and enclose the held quantity of waste. The compartment in the housing receives the enclosed waste. The waste is thus rotated while the cartridge is held against rotation thereby enabling the formation of the twist above the waste to enclose or encapsulate the waste. A pushing mechanism may be provided on a cover of the device to push the waste into engagement with the retention mechanism.

  • Patent number: 7040078
Abstract: Method and apparatus for fitting stretchable sleeves on containers in the form of a substantially prismatic or cylindrical carton, the opening of which is at least partially surrounded by a rim projecting out towards the exterior. Sleeves are cut from a stretchable sheath and stretched to assume a section slightly bigger than the section of the carton. The sleeve is placed on the carton by moving it from above the base in the direction towards the rim. The apparatus comprises a sheath feed and a sleeve cutting device, a transfer drum equipped with transfer elements, and a placing turret equipped with placing units with two placing elements, each having a stretching tool and a clamping block. A container feed positions the containers, in steps, in synchronization with the placing elements, in the placing zone, the base of the container being turned towards the placing elements.

Abstract: In a method for packaging an object using a hose-shaped stretch foil having laterally extending folds guided axially with respect to the stretch foil and along a length of the object, a foil hood sized to a shape of the object to be packaged is formed, which hood is reefed onto several gripper devices movable in essentially horizontal direction, of a lifting frame movable in essentially a vertical direction. The reefed foil hood is tentered in an essentially horizontal direction by the movement of the gripper device such that the tentered opening of the foil hood is larger than the contour of the object to be packed and wherein the foil hood is expanded in essentially horizontal direction. The foil hood is then pulled over the object by the essentially vertical movement of the lifting frame, wherein the foil hood is pulled off from the gripper device and is expanded in essentially vertical direction.

  • Patent number: 7028452
Abstract: A packaging device includes a film fitting mechanism, a film shrinking mechanism and a controller. The film fitting mechanism fits a tubular heat shrinkage film over a film cylinder and moves the film a distance along the cylinder and cuts a length of the film off. The length of the film is then conveyed to the film shrinking mechanism. The film shrinking mechanism is arranged next to the film fitting mechanism and includes a base for supporting an article to be packed with the film that is cut by the film fitting mechanism and heating units for supplying high temperature air flows to the film thereby making the film shrink and tightly wrap over the article. The controller controls and coordinates the operations between the film fitting mechanism and the film shrinking mechanism.

  • Patent number: 7024839
Abstract: An agricultural bagger apparatus and method for compacting feed into a horizontally deployed bag including a compression mechanism and an input hopper that receives agricultural feed. The hopper has a sloping wall and a lower end exit chute located to transfer the feed into the primary compression mechanism (e.g., a rotating toothed cylinder). The tapered hopper causes the feed to bridge, stopping the feed from falling through the chute. A new distribution mechanism in the hopper sweeps the feed adjacent to the sloping wall to prevent feed bridging. By preventing the feed from clogging, there is less reason to risk one's safety by foolishly inserting their limb into the hopper. Some embodiments also compact feed in the upper portion of the tunnel, for example, by reciprocating a hinged piston above the primary compression mechanism. This increases the compaction on the top portion of the tunnel without unduly juicing the feed.
