Abstract: Heterocyclic sulfenamides, such as N-[2-chloro-5-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-N-[2,4-dinitro-6-trifluoromethyl)ph enyl]-3-nitro-2-pyridinesulfenamide, are useful as miticides, insecticides, fungicides and ovicides.
Abstract: Aromatic nitro compounds are disclosed where the aromatic ring contains electron-withdrawing groups and said aromatic nitro compound is capable of undergoing intramolecular nucleophilic displacement after reduction of the nitro group. The compounds are especially useful in photographic elements where an image dye-providing material or a photographic reagent are released upon cleavage from the compound.
Abstract: Mono- and di-thiophosphate esters having an isoxazolinone system attached at its 2-position through an optionally alkyl- or phenyl-substituted methylene or ethylene group to the sulphur or to one of the sulphur atoms are useful as insecticides and/or acaricides.
Abstract: 3'-(Substituted phenyl)-spiro[isobenzofuran-1(3H),5'(4'H)-isoxazol]-3-ones have been found to be effective as herbicides and plant growth regulants, especially for the regulation of soybeans.
Abstract: Novel stilbene compounds of the formula ##STR1## in which A is the radical ##STR2## in which R.sub.1 is hydrogen or chlorine and R.sub.2 is hydrogen or alkyl, Z is hydrogen, chlorine or phenyl and R.sub.3 is hydrogen, alkyl or chlorine, as well as their use in a process for optically brightening organic material are described.

Abstract: Methane-sulfonamide derivatives of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen or a halogen atom, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are the same or different and are each hydrogen or a straight or branched alkyl having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, and one of X and Y is a carbon atom and another is a nitrogen atom, provided that the group: --CH.sub.2 SO.sub.2 NR.sub.2 R.sub.3 is bonded to the carbon atom of either of X and Y,and an alkali metal salt thereof, and a process for the preparation of said methane-sulfonamide derivatives. Said compounds have an excellent anticonvulsant activity and are useful as anticonvulsants for controlling convulsions and seizures in patients with epilepsy.
