Abstract: The invention relates to novel furans, especially benzofuranones of the general formula ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 represents hydrogen or an aliphatic radical, R.sub.2 represents an amino group di-substituted by a divalent hydrocarbon radical, and the aromatic ring A may be additionally substituted, and their salts and/or isomers, processes for the manufacture of compounds of the formula (I) and their salts and isomers, pharmaceutical preparations containing these compounds, and their use as the active ingredients of medicaments as anti-inflammatory agents, analgesics or light-screening agents and/or for the manufacture of pharmaceutical preparations.

Abstract: Carbazolylmethane compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein one of Y.sub.1, Y.sub.2 and Q represents a 3-carbazolyl radical of the formula ##STR2## and each of the other two independently represents an amino-substituted phenyl radical of the formula ##STR3## a 3-indolyl radical of the formula ##STR4## These compounds are particularly suitable for use as color formers in pressure-sensitive or heat-sensitive recording material.

Abstract: N-Vinyl carbazoles are prepared by reacting an N-unsubstituted carbazole with a dihaloethane in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst followed by reaction with an aqueous solution containing a highly basic agent. These N-vinyl carbazoles are useful, singly or in combination with other materials, as electrical capacitors and insulators, in thermal foam insulators, as components in copolymers and in image-recording systems, and as photoconductive materials in electrophotography.
