Gas Flow Actuates Member Patents (Class 55/298)
  • Patent number: 9161667
Abstract: A filter kit with an enhanced surface area filter and cage, for an electric power vacuum cleaner, the filter is a self-cleaning, flexible interlocking fabric having a rest position at atmospheric pressure, and a stretched position when under vacuum of a vacuum cleaner, the fabric having at least enough stretchability to increase its surface area by at least 10% in its stretched position from its rest position. When the vacuum cleaner is operating, the filter is in its stretched position and collects dust and debris, and when the vacuum cleaner is off, the filter relaxes, returns to its rest position and its surface area contracts to be self-cleaning, and a portion of the dust and debris to fall from the filter.

  • Patent number: 8236076
Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning an air filter includes a body, a closed chamber formed within the body, a fluid dispersing member having a portion thereof mounted for rotation within the body and passing through the chamber, a plurality of orifices formed through the wall of the fluid dispersing member and an arrangement for rotating the fluid dispersing member. The arrangement either includes a combination of nozzles secured to the fluid dispersing member and positioned within the chamber and an irregular inner wall surface of the chamber capable of providing resistance to a fluid flow discharged into the chamber or fins disposed on the fluid dispersing member and a passageway through the body for directing fluid under pressure onto the fins. Fluid supplied under pressure to the fluid dispersing member exits through the plurality of orifices toward an inner surface of a air filter filtering medium causing contaminants to exit therefrom.

  • Patent number: 7494520
Abstract: A filter device for a vacuum cleaner includes a casing having a collecting space therein, a suction opening through which air including dust is sucked, formed eccentrically at one side so that sucked air can be rotated and a discharge opening through which purified air is discharged. A filter is installed at an internal space of the casing, for filtering dust from air sucked through the suction opening. A filter cleaning unit is disposed at an outer circumferential surface of the filter, for cleaning the filter by being rotated by a rotation force of air sucked through the suction opening. A rotation restrainer is provided for restraining rotation of the filter cleaning unit when the filter cleaning unit reaches a topmost position. Accordingly, fine dust attached to the filter in cleaning is removed so that a channel of the filter can be prevented from being closed.

  • Patent number: 7351269
Abstract: A brush configured to move repeatedly over a vacuum filter. The brush will remove dust particles to prevent them from clogging the filter. In the preferred embodiment, the brush is mounted on a revolving shaft. As the shaft turns it moves the bristles of the brush over the surface of the filter, whereby dust particles may be dislodged. In one embodiment, the shaft is attached to the vacuum motor and is turned directly by the motor. In this embodiment a speed reducer may be employed to slow the rate of rotation of the brush. In another embodiment, a turbine is attached to the shaft. The turbine is placed in the path of the air stream moving through the vacuum. The air passing through the turbine cause it and the shaft to rotate, thereby reducing the load on the motor.

  • Patent number: 6928692
Abstract: A cyclone-type dust collecting apparatus having a dust removing portion for removing from the grill portion the dust and foreign substances that become attached to the grill portion of the grill member while the grill portion is rotated by the vortex air of the cyclone body. The dust removing portion includes rotating means disposed at a lower portion of the grill member for rotation by an air current passing therethrough; a rotary member rotatably connected to the rotating means, and disposed separate from an end of the grill member by a predetermined distance; and a brush member having one side connected to the rotary member and the other side being disposed in contact with the grill portion of the grill member for removing the dust and foreign substances from the grill portion. As the cleaning operation starts, the brush member inside of the cyclone-type dust collecting apparatus is rotated by the vortex current generated therein, to remove dust or contaminants from the grill portion of the grill member.

  • Patent number: 5603740
Abstract: A suction source is connected to the upper end of a vertical suction tube; a plug member slides upwardly within the tube under the action of the suction source and moves down by gravity when the suction source is cut off The suction tube has a bypass port above the plug member and a valve is operated by the movement of the plug member to close and open the bypass port when the plug reaches its lower and upper limit positions respectively. Therefore, the plug continuously reciprocates up by suction and down by gravity upon sequential closing and opening of the valve. The system is incorporated in a central vacuum cleaning apparatus which provides the suction source and has a filter. The reciprocating movement of the plug drives a hammer or brush to continuously remove the dirt accumulating on the filter.

  • Patent number: 4675032
Abstract: A bag is shown for use with an upright vacuum cleaner of the type having a motor fan contained in a main housing for producing an air flow out an air duct of the housing. The bag includes a flexible body having side walls formed of an air pervious material which define a normally closed interior and a mouth opening. The mouth opening of the flexible body is secured to the air duct of the main housing to produce an air flow through the flexible body for exhaust to the atmosphere. An oscillator tube, formed of a flexible material, has an interior, an open end at one extent and an intake opening at the opposite extent. The intake opening is arranged to communicate with the mouth opening of the bag body so that the air flow from the main housing passes through the oscillator tube and causes oscillations, the oscillations of the tube serving to vibrate the bag and prevent the buildup of dirt on the bag interior side walls.

  • Patent number: 4655805
Abstract: A filter comprises a filtering wall (2) which has a front face and a rear face and which is normally permeated by a medium in a direction from the front face towards the rear face such that the pollutants entrained by the medium are separated at the front face of the filtering wall and the purified medium is allowed to pass through the wall and into a space behind the filtering wall, the flow of medium through said wall being reversible, if so desired, in order to remove said separated pollutants from the front face of the filtering wall so as to clean said wall. According to the invention, the front face of the filtering wall is provided with one or more elastic cover elements (9) which are movable relative to the filtering wall and adapted upon reversal of the flow of medium, by elastic deformation under the action of said flow, to be removed wholly or partly from the wall while working said separated, adhering pollutants in order to facilitate the removal thereof.
