  • Patent number: 7279091
Abstract: A filter device has a filter housing (10) receiving a first filter element (12), through which a medium may flow in a given direction, and has a bypass device (22). Along with the first filter element (12), a second filter element (32) is provided. The filter elements are arranged in series, one behind the other, in the direction of flow. When the bypass device (22) is activated, the second filter element (32), immediately following in the direction of flow, filters the medium. The second filter element thus takes over the main filtration of the medium on actuation and operation of the bypass device, since the first filter element is essentially no longer available for a filtration process due to the bypass device.

  • Patent number: 6755879
Abstract: The invention relates to a bag filter device (12), which device enables collection and draining of particles of liquid from a gas, normally air, flowing through the bag filter (12). Such a bag filter (12) is normally used to trap solid particles from a gas flow, but where particles of liquid, in which there are for example salts or bacteria, are also trapped and possibly permeate the bag filter (12) and drip out on the downstream side thereof. Then the liquid may be carried further in the gas flow and have disadvantageous effect on equipment and surroundings. According to the invention such drawbacks can be avoided or reduced in that the filter material of a lower portion (18) and a bottom portion (19) in the continuation of the lower portion (18) of the bag filter (12) is formed in its entirety or in an outer filter layer (20) by a liquid-tight material. Possibly, the bottom portion (19) is provided with a liquid outlet (39), so that the liquid separated can collect and be drained from the bag filter (12).

  • Patent number: 6205842
Abstract: The mass of particulate matter in a particle laden gas stream is measured using a first mass detector and a second mass detector. Switching means causes the particle laden gas stream and a substantially identical but particle-free gas stream to alternately engage the first mass detector and the second mass detector respectively during successive measurement time periods. A difference between a reading provided by the first mass detector and a reading provided by the second mass detector for each of the successive measurement time periods is determined. This difference intrinsically corrects for volatilization losses occurring during the measurement time periods. A measure of the mass or concentration of particulate matter in the particulate laden gas stream is determined from this difference.

Abstract: The invention provides a method and device for detecting the state of an air filter in a ventilation system of the passenger compartment of an automobile vehicle. The installation is put into operation in a given mode and a parameter of an air flow emitted into the passenger compartment by an air nozzle of the installation is measured by means of a measurement device filled with a collector. The measured value of the parameter is then compared with a reference value, to determine whether or not the filter needs to be replaced.
