The expandable filter to maintain a constant pressure or vacuum in the plenum or filter. The filter self-expands as the pressure or vacuum increases and pushes, pulls or draws the filter into an elongated or heightened configuration. As the filter expands new filter material is exposed that was not previously exposed for filtering. Expansion doubles, triples, or further increases the filter collection surface area. The filter does not rely upon gravity and expands based upon the increase of pressure or vacuum in the plenum the filter can be arranged in a vertical or horizontal orientation.

Abstract: A surface cleaning apparatus comprises an air flow passage extending from a dirty air inlet to a clean air outlet. A suction motor is positioned in the air flow path. At least one cyclone chamber is positioned in the air flow passage. An associated dirt collection chamber is exterior to the cyclone chamber. The cyclone chamber and the suction motor are positioned side by side and have generally parallel longitudinal axes. The dirt collection chamber may surround part of the suction motor. Alternately, or in addition, a pre-motor filter having an enhanced surface area may be provided by configuring the pre-motor filter to extend outwardly of the pre-motor filter, such as by overlie part of the cyclone chamber or the dirt collection chamber.

Abstract: Provided are a space-saving filter that has a plurality of types of air purification capabilities with reduced pressure loss, and a compact air purifier that efficiently exerts a plurality of types of air purification capabilities. Since a body part of a deodorizing filter includes two pieces of deodorizing filter bodies each having the same thickness (hereafter referred to as thickness D) juxtaposed in a plane direction, the body part has the thickness of D. When the deodorizing filter bodies are laminated, the thickness of the body part becomes 2D or more. The body part has a reduced pressure loss and space in a thickness direction compared with a filter in which the deodorizing filter bodies are laminated. The first deodorizing filter body mainly removes aldehyde-based odor components and the second deodorizing filter body mainly removes amine-based odor components.

  • Patent number: 8801823
Abstract: A system for separating contaminants from an airstream, including a centrifugal fan and housing; a contaminant containment vessel mounted to an outer surface of the housing; and a diverter in the airstream downstream of the fan and within the housing, the diverter being configured to separate a portion of the airstream from a remainder of the airstream, accelerate the portion of the airstream towards the containment vessel, and thereafter guide the portion of the airstream towards the remainder of the airstream. The diverter preferably does not negatively impact the rated performance of the fan, such that a performance of the system is not measurably different than the rated performance of the fan and housing combination. The diverter may accelerate contaminants entrained in the airstream toward the containment vessel, thereby separating the contaminants from the airstream.

A centrifugal separator is provided as comprising a housing defining an inner space, and a rotor assembly for imparting a rotary motion onto a mixture of substances to be separated. The rotor assembly is located in said inner space and is rotatable about an axis relative to the housing. The rotor assembly comprises an inlet for receiving said mixture of substances, an outlet from which said substances are ejected from the rotor assembly during use, and a flow path for providing fluid communication between the inlet and outlet, wherein the outlet is positioned more radially outward from said axis than the inlet.

A moving body detector is provided to detect a moving body such as, for example, a person, a pet, a cleaning robot, and the like. The air current from the indoor unit is controlled by the controller based on the position of the indoor unit, the position of a spot of occurrence of dust detected by the moving body detector, and the position of the dust collector such that the air current from the indoor unit reaches the dust collector via the spot of occurrence of dust in order for the dust collector to effectively suck the dust.

Abstract: This disclosure describes examples of a seal element that can prevent leaks that occur due to sagging and/or displacement of a filter device from the tubesheet in a power generating system. The seal element can have a non-uniform profile that defines a material thickness for the seal element. In one example, the non-uniform profile defines an area or section of the seal element that is thicker relative to other areas or sections of the seal element. The thicker area corresponds to certain positions on the filter device that are susceptible to movement that can occur, e.g., due to particulate build-up during operation of the turbo-machine.

Abstract: A non-fouling, bypass filter is disclosed. The filter is formed of a tapered structure having particulate material filtering properties. The tapered structure has an open base and a closed top, with its exterior surface being exposed to a gas/fluid stream to be filtered. A gas/fluid stream generating device generates a gas/fluid stream that is drawn into the tapered structure's interior and that is filtered due to the particulate material filtering properties of the tapered structure. The external profile of the conically shaped structure is adapted to cause a plurality of gas/fluid streams from the ambient gas/fluid to flow against the exterior surface of the tapered structure to prevent the building up of particulate material on the exterior surface.
