  • Patent number: 7255838
Abstract: An air filter for an internal combustion engine having a rigid type ceramic filter element made by foaming oxygen-rich ceramic powder for creating a plurality of pass-through holes. In this way, the incoming air obtains a thorough contact with the oxygen-rich powder. Meanwhile, the material of the oxygen-rich ceramic releases negative ions to activate the air entering into the internal combustion engine. Moreover, nano-sized platinum black is coated to the surface of the pass-through holes of the ceramic filter element. So, the incoming air passing through the pass-through holes of the ceramic filter element is catalyzed in chemical reactions to divide the water molecule cluster into smaller particles. Meanwhile, the freedom of water molecule is increased to permit an instant decomposition of oxygen and nitrogen molecules, a complete combination with the fuel injected into the internal combustion engine, and a thorough mixing and a better combustion efficiency.

Abstract: A washable air filter for an internal combustion engine which has high durability and can be washed with ease to reuse it is disclosed. The washable air filter includes an outer cylindrical member 10; an inner cylindrical member 11; a first filter element 30 formed from a stainless mesh sheet which is folded in a pleated-form having peaks and valleys arranged alternately and provided between the outer cylindrical member 10 and the inner cylindrical member 11; and a second filter element 33 provided between the outer cylindrical member 10 and the first tilter element 30. Since the washable air filter uses the filter element made from the stainless mesh sheet, it is possible to effectively remove dust particles from air. Further, the washable air filter can be reused because dust particles are removed off the filter element by washing after use.

  • Patent number: 6852184
Abstract: An apparatus for fixing the position of a metal end cap on a filter element includes a filter support, an inductive heater, and a drive system for moving the heater relative to the filter support. Preferably, the apparatus also includes a second inductive heater. Where two heaters are used, the drive system simultaneously moves the first and second inductive heaters in substantially opposite directions, using a control shaft extending between first and second support pillars. Each end of the control shaft is threaded, and the threading on the second end is formed in an opposite direction to the threading on the first end. Each of the heaters is threadably connected to the control shaft. A motor is provided for rotating the control shaft. A method of forming a filter cartridge, using the disclosed apparatus, is another aspect of the invention.
