  • Patent number: 7785402
Abstract: A support framework for containing a media that is used to remediate corrosive vaporous pollutants in an air stream. The support framework is situated within a plenum and comprises two concentric open-lattice weave frameworks made from corrosion resistant fiberglass reinforced plastic “FRP”. The frameworks are of differing diameters and the media is placed into and contained within the open space formed between the inside wall of the outer framework and the outside wall of the inner framework. The open-lattice weave design allows a greater radial flow through the media per unit of time, doing so with less pressure drop and using less energy than the prior art. The use of FRP to form the framework walls allows creation of large units that are suitable for use in municipal and industrial settings, which was not possible previously.

  • Patent number: 7547341
Abstract: A filter assembly for a structure having an air intake, the filter assembly including a filter media that is sized and shaped to cover the air intake. The ends of the filter media are connected by an elastic fastener, such that the filter media and the fastener encircle the structure and are under tension to hold the filter assembly on the structure. The filter media is a web of synthetic fibers, such as a web of fibers woven in a 3-dimensional pattern or a nonwoven mesh.

Abstract: A fine particle filtration fabric, stabilized dimensionally against distension by a force field which may be applied to the fabric, has a layer of air filtration media, and a reinforcing matrix of filaments extending linearly in plural directions within a two-dimensional geometric pattern along said layer of filtration media or even outside of a composite fabric containing filtration media to inhibit the distension. The air filtration media comprises a layer of flexible lay-down of discontinuous filaments or fibers providing interstitial spacing in a range of 0.1 to 0.5 microns, the layer having a thickness in the range of 1-5 millimeters.

  • Patent number: 7517944
Abstract: Provided a process for producing a polycarbonate which comprises reacting an aqueous alkali solution of a dihydric phenol with phosgene in the presence of an organic solvent to produce a polycarbonate oligomer and subsequently polycondensing the oligomer, wherein an emulsion solution of a polycarbonate oligomer-containing organic solvent obtained in the polycarbonate oligomer production step is introduced into a coalescer to separate the emulsion solution into a polycarbonate oligomer-containing organic solvent phase and an aqueous phase, and the polycarbonate oligomer-containing organic solvent phase is subjected to polycondensation. Thus the emulsion solution of a polycarbonate oligomer-containing organic solvent obtained in the polycarbonate oligomer production step is efficiently separated to reduce the content of impurity-containing water in the oligomer for producing a polycarbonate having excellent quality and to a obtain wastewater having a low content of organic materials.

  • Patent number: 7517378
Abstract: The invention provides an air filter with an integral rigid edge. The filter uses a pre-cut sheet of non-woven synthetic filter material. The sheet has a generally rectangular central portion and four outwardly extending side portions. Each side portion is compressed to make it thinner, denser and more rigid than the central portion. The side portions are rolled or folded upon themselves toward the central portion to form a rigid edge around at least a part of the central portion. A method for making the air filter is also provided.

  • Patent number: 7488365
Abstract: A corrugated web having tapered flutes is usable in straight-through flow filter elements. The corrugated web can be made by passage between a pair of corrugated rollers having tapered teeth. Methods of making usable corrugated rollers include methods for generating the tapered teeth at the end points and the extension between the end points. Corrugated webs may be made from a variety of media, including certain media that stretches in the machine direction. Methods of forming the corrugated web into filter elements (e.g., air filter elements) includes forming filter media by securing a flat sheet to the corrugated web. The filter media may then be wound into a filter element, including application of sealant during the winding process to close selected flutes.
