Abstract: The present invention relates to a compound of formula I wherein R1 and R3 are each independently of the other —NHR5, NHSO2R5, —NHCOR5, —OR6 or —SR7, R2 and R4 are each independently of the other —OR6 or —SR7, with the proviso that not all of the substituents R1 to R4 are —SR7, R5 is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or a group of formula —(CnH2nX)m—H wherein X is —O—, —S—, —SO2—, —NH—, —NR8—, —CONH— or —CONR8— and R8 is alkyl or aryl, n is a number from 2 to 6 and m is a number from 1 to 10, R6 is aryl or heteroaryl and R7 is alkyl, aryl, heteroaryl or a group of formula —(CnH2nX)m—H wherein X is —O—, —S—, —SO2—, —NH—, —NR8—, CONH— or —CONR8— and R8 is alkyl or aryl, to a process for the preparation thereof and to the use thereof in a method of producing mass-coloured plastics or polymeric colour particles.
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device comprises, a pair of substrates having an electrode on a surface thereof, and a liquid crystal layer containing a liquid crystal and a dichroic dye, wherein the dichroic dye is an anthraquinone dye exhibiting 0.08 or less of Y value represented by the following equation,Y={.SIGMA..DELTA.H tr,m/268-.SIGMA..DELTA.S tr,m}(kJK.sup.-1 kg.sup.-1)wherein .SIGMA..DELTA.H tr,m is a sum of an enthalpy change of transition from -5.degree. C. to the melting point of and an enthalpy change of melting per unit weight, and .SIGMA..DELTA.S tr,m is a sum of an entropy change of transition from -5.degree. C. to the melting point and an entropy change of melting per unit weight.
Abstract: Dyes suitable for use in the fabrication of color filters are described which contain one or more photopolymerizable substituents preferably represented by the following formula:D-(A-Yn.sup.1)n.sup.2 (1)where D represents a chromphoric nucleus, A denotes a connecting group, Y means the photopolymerizable group, n.sup.1 is 1-10,000, and n.sup.2 stands for an integer of 1-10. Also described are photosensitive resist resin compositions containing the dyes as well as color filters fabricated by curing the photosensitive resist resin compositions.
Abstract: The invention relates to fibre-reactive anthraquinone dyes of formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, B, U, R and n are as defined in claim 1. The anthraquinone dyes of formula (1) are suitable for dyeing or printing hydroxyl group containing or nitrogen-containing fibre materials and give dyeings or prints of good allround fastness properties.
Abstract: 9-amino-7-(substituted amino)-6-demethyl-6-deoxytetracyclines having activity against a wide spectrum of organisms including organisms which are resistant to tetracyclines are disclosed. Also disclosed are intermediates and methods for making the novel compounds of the present invention.
