The Carbons Of Plural -c(=x)x- Groups Are Bonded Directly To Each Other, To The Same Carbon, Or To A Chain Consisting Of Carbons, Which Carbons May Be Part Of A Ring (e.g., Bismuth Tartrates, Etc.) Patents (Class 556/79)
Abstract: Agents for surface treatment which can impart excellent corrosion resistance to zinc or zinc alloy products at low cost. The agents for the surface treatment of zinc or zinc alloy products of this invention include at least one water-soluble compound which contains antimony, bismuth, tellurium or tin. Ideally, a nickel salt and/or a manganese salt is also included, and most desirably tannins and/or thioureas are also included. Ideally, the zinc or zinc alloy products which have been immersed and treated in an aqueous solution which contains these agents for surface treatment are immersed in an aqueous solution which includes a sealing treatment agent selected according to the colour of the zinc or zinc alloy product to seal pinholes.

Abstract: A method for preparation of a semitransparent colloidal solution of bismuth sodium tartrate generally comprises producing an aqueous solution of bismuth sodium tartrate; extracting a magma of bismuth sodium tartrate from the aqueous solution at a pH of approximately 2.2; and then dissolving the magma into a salting-in mixture. After addition of preservative and strength testing, the base solution is diluted to elixir strength. The elixir is then buffered to a pH range of about 7.2 to about 7.3 in order to maintain for an extended duration the semitransparent nature of the elixir.
It is critical that the magma be extracted at a pH of at least 2.2 but not more than 2.3. As a result, the magma is extracted by washing with a wash liquor comprising an addition of distilled water; allowing the magma to settle out of the wash liquor; measuring the pH of the wash liquor after the magma has settled; and then decanting the wash liquor from the magma. This process is then repeated as necessary to arrive at a magma within the critical pH range, whereafter the magma is air dried in preparation for salting-in. After addition of preservative and strength testing, the base solution is diluted to an elixir strength.

Abstract: A solvent composition for liquid delivery chemical vapor deposition of metal organic precursors, to form metal-containing films such as SrBi2Ta2O9 (SBT) films for memory devices. An SBT film may be formed using precursors such as Sr(thd)2(pmdeta), Ta(OiPr)4(thd) and Bi(thd)3(pmdeta) which are dissolved in a solvent medium comprising one or more alkanes. Specific alkane solvent compositions may advantageously used for MOCVD of metal organic compound(s) such as &bgr;-diketonate compounds or complexes, compound(s) including alkoxide ligands, and compound(s) including alkyl and/or aryl groups at their outer (molecular) surface, or compound(s) including other ligand coordination species and specific metal constituents.
Abstract: An essentially water-insoluble compound of bismuth and polyacrylic acid disperses well in the bowel and forms a good mucoadhesive covering of the bowel wall. Thus in patients with inflammatory bowel disease the bismuth is held in intimate contact to the inflamed tissue of the bowel. Two processes are provided for preparing said water-insoluble compounds.
Abstract: An ultrafine titanium dioxide powder is disclosed that can be produced by hydrothermal treating an amino titanium oxalate composition. Ultrafine titanium dioxide powders are useful in cosmetic and other applications for controlling exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light.
Abstract: A bismuth-containing product in the form of a powder easily dispersible in water to form a colloidal solution suitable for oral administration as an antiulcer drug is obtained from an aqueous solution of potassium citrate, bismuth citrate and potassium hydroxide, the product being precipitated from the aqueous solution by dilution with acetone.
