Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the synthesis of a monounsaturated nitrile-ester (acid) by cross metathesis starting from an unsaturated compound I comprising at least one trivalent nitrile, acid or ester functional group, characterized in that it comprises a stage in which two types of cross metathesis are alternated consecutively: a first type of cross metathesis cm1 with an acrylic compound II chosen from acrylonitrile, acrylic acid or an acrylic ester, one of the compounds I or II comprising a nitrile functional group and the other of these compounds II or I comprising an acid or ester functional group, and a second type of cross metathesis cm2 with a light C2 to C4 alkene compound III, preferably with ethylene. The invention also relates to a process for the synthesis of an ?,?-amino ester (acid) obtained by a process comprising a stage in which the two types of cross metathesis defined above are alternated consecutively, followed by a hydrogenation stage.

  • Patent number: 6586599
Abstract: A process for conducting coupling reactions of aryl halides with unsaturated silanes is described. The processes use N-heterocyclic carbenes as ancillary ligands in these coupling reactions. A coupling of an aryl halide with an unsaturated silane can be carried out by mixing, in a liquid medium, at least one strong base; at least one aryl halide or aryl pseudohalide in which all substituents are other than silyl groups, wherein the aryl halide has, directly bonded to the aromatic ring(s), at least one chlorine atom, bromine atom, or iodine atom; at least one silane wherein the silicon atom is quaternary, wherein one group bound to the silicon atom is unsaturated at the alpha or beta position, and wherein each of the remaining groups bound to the silicon atom is a saturated hydrocarbyl or a saturated hydrocarbyloxy group; at least one nickel, palladium, or platinum compound, wherein the formal oxidation state of the metal is zero or two; and at least one N-heterocyclic carbene.

  • Patent number: 5861528
Abstract: In a process for preparing a Diels-Alder addition product of a conjugated diolefin and acrylonitrile by reacting the conjugated diolefin with acrylonitrile, a vessel type reactor is used. The pressure of the gaseous phase in the reactor is increased by using an inert gas in the reaction. A premixed solution of the conjugated diolefin or a compound which produces the conjugated diolefin in the reactor and acrylonitrile is released through an upper portion of the reactor into the gaseous phase and then dropped into a liquid phase to react. A reaction product is taken out through a lower portion of the reactor. The process can be carried out continuously in a safe manner over an extended period of time without any adhesion of an insoluble polymer to the reactor or to the inlet or outlet pipes, and without sudden pressure fluctuations.
