Patent number: 5880160Abstract: The present invention relates to novel colchicine derivatives having antiproliferative, antineoplastic, antiinflammatory and muscle relaxant activities; said derivatives include novel colchine nitrogen amides for use either as such or after derivatization of the hydroxyl at C.sub.3 of the aromatic ring and at C.sub.10 of the tropolone ring. These novel compounds have a cytotoxicity on human tumoral cell lines comparable with colchicine but, in comparison with the latter, they are much more active on cells resistant to the usual antiblastics. The compounds can be included in pharmaceutical formulations useful for the intravenous, oral and topical administrations.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 1996Date of Patent: March 9, 1999Assignee: Indena S.p.A.Inventors: Ezio Bombardelli, Bruno Gabetta

Patent number: 5446188Abstract: A process for the production of a highly concentrated fatty alcohol sulfate paste comprising the steps of: (1) forming a crude sulfonation product by reacting a mixture of an inert gas and sulfur dioxide with a mixture comprised of: (a) an unsaturated fatty alcohol of the formula IR.sup.1 --OH (I)wherein R.sup.1 is a linear unsaturated hydrocarbon radical having from 16 to 22 carbon atoms and 1, 2, or 3 double bonds, (b) a saturated fatty alcohol of the formula IIR.sup.2 --OH (II)wherein R.sup.2 is a linear or branched saturated hydrocarbon radical having from 12 to 22 carbon atoms; wherein the molar ratio of sulfur trioxide/fatty alcohol mixture is from 0.95:1 to 1.3:1 and (2) neutralizing, at a temperature of from 50.degree. C. to 90.degree. C., said crude sulfonation product with a quantity of aqueous base sufficient to form a water-containing fatty alcohol sulfate paste product having a solids content of from 60% to 70% by weight and a viscosity of less than 10 Pa.s at 60.degree. Patent number: 5427717Abstract: This invention relates to solid secondary alkyl sulfate/zeolite-containing surface active compositions which are formed by crystallization and which contain at least about 80 percent by weight of secondary alkyl sulfate and zeolite. These compositions are substantially free of unreacted organic matter and water. The invention further relates to a process for preparing these solid secondary alkyl sulfate/zeolite-containing compositions.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1994Date of Patent: June 27, 1995Assignee: Shell Oil CompanyInventors: David K. Schisla, Robert S. Tomaskovic, Eugene F. Lutz, Charles M. Arbore

Patent number: 5290484Abstract: This invention relates to a process for preparing solid and non-solid secondary alkyl sulfate-containing surface active compositions. The solid secondary alkyl sulfate-containing surface active compositions are formed by crystallization, and the non-solid secondary alkyl sulfate-containing surface active compositions are recovered in a glycol solvent. These compositions are substantially free of unreacted organic matter and water.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1992Date of Patent: March 1, 1994Assignee: Shell Oil CompanyInventor: Eugene F. Lutz

Patent number: 5233081Abstract: A method for preparing a sulfonated compound with minimal or no waste products using a porous inorganic material absorber. The absorber is saturated with a compound to be sulfonated and then contacted with a sulfonating gas mixture to form a sulfonated product. After forming the sulfonated product, excess sulfonating gas is removed by contacting the sulfonated product with warm air. The sulfonated product is then neutralized and the product is removed with water from the inorganic material absorber. The absorber is then dried with hot air so that it may be reused for future sulfonation processes. The process results in preparation of a sulfonated compound having inorganic salts present in an amount less than about 1.0 percent by weight based on total sulfonated product weight. The process results in highly effective sulfonation of a compound with formation of little or no waste materials, particularly waste materials such as solvents and undesirable inorganic salts.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1992Date of Patent: August 3, 1993Inventor: Wilhelm E.
