Abstract: Polymerizable acrylic monomers, and anaerobic adhesives which contain such monomers, wherein the acrylic monomers contain internal chain unsaturation in addition to terminal acrylic unsaturation.
Abstract: The compounds disclosed are of the formula ##STR1## and the anhydrides thereof wherein R.sub.f is a perfluoroalkyl group,Y is oxygen, or an amine, andR is hydrogen or alkyl. These compounds can be prepared by a free radical catalyzed addition of a perfluoroalkyl iodide to a 5-norbornene diacid or its derivative. They are useful in preparing surfactants when reacted with an amine.
Abstract: Polyether-ester polyols are prepared in the presence of from 0.005 percent to 0.01 percent by weight (50-100 ppm) of a trialkylamine. The resulting polyols have improved color and are obtained in markedly reduced reaction times.
Abstract: Water-thinnable, di- or polyesters and water-insoluble coatings which are particularly suitable as wood finishes and which are made by reaction of the di- or polyesters with water-soluble aminoplast resins are described. The ester resin intermediates are made by reacting a triol having a carbon/oxygen ratio of about 5:3 to about 7:3 with a polycarboxylic acid selected from lower molecular weight polycarboxylic acids so that the resulting ester resin is water-thinnable. The ratio of triol to polycarboxylic acid is varied to produce either the diester or the polyester.
Abstract: A photosensitive composition for a photoresist, which comprises (A) a compound having the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein Z is a cyclic dibasic acid anhydride moiety, R.sup.1 is an alkylene group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, R.sup.2 is hydrogen or methyl, and R.sup.3 is hydrogen, methyl, ethyl or -CH.sub.2 X in which X is chlorine or bromine, (B) a photopolymerization sensitizer, (C) a polymer being capable of giving a film-forming property, (D) a chain transfer agent and (E) a thermal polymerization inhibitor; and a laminated photosensitive element which has a substantially dry photosensitive layer of the photosensitive composition. The composition and element are capable of giving a minute resist pattern which is excellent as an etching resist or metal plating resist and can be readily removed after etching or metal plating.
Abstract: Polymerizable reaction product mixtures containing cycloalkenylcarbonyloxy compounds are produced by the reaction of a conjugated diene with (i) an acrylate or methacrylate ester of an expoxidized long chain unsaturated fatty oil or (ii) an acrylate or methacrylate of an epoxidized long chain unsaturated fatty acid or ester thereof. The reaction product mixtures obtained are useful per se and in formulations as inks or coatings that can be cured by exposure to radiation or heat.

Abstract: Carboxyl terminated polymers prepared by reacting a cyclic anhydride with a liquid polymeric hydroxyl terminated polymer selected from polyethers, polydienes, and copolymers of the dienes with styrene or acrylonitrile in the presence of a catalyst selected from quaternary ammonium salts and from halogen acid salts of amines. The carboxyl terminated polymers can be used as flexibilizers in epoxy resins.
Abstract: This invention describes new perfluoroalkyl substituted esters, diesters and polyesters which contain at least one cyclic 5-membered anhydride group or two carboxy groups, as well as half amides and half esters thereof; their synthesis and their use as surface-active reactants in polycondensate resin systems. The anhydrides are synthesized by reaction of perfluoroalkyl substituted alcohols or diols with dianhydrides or an anhydrides-acid chloride and have the general structure ##STR1## wherein: Q is the tetra-radical rest of a tri- or tetracarboxylic acid, which contains at least one 1,2-dicarboxy grouping,X is hydrogen or COOH,R.sub.f is a perfluoroalkyl or perfluoroalkoxy-perfluoroalkyl group of 4 to 18 carbon atoms,a is 1 or 2,A is hydrogen or ##STR2## wherein: M IS AN INTEGER FROM 0 TO 5, ANDR.sup.3 is the residue of a R.sub.f substituted alcohol or diol.
