    Abstract: An aromatic vinyl ether of the formula: ##STR1## wherein: R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.4, R.sub.5, R.sub.6, R.sub.8, R.sub.9, and R.sub.10 are independently selected from hydrogen, halogen, and C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl radicals;R.sub.3 and R.sub.7 are independently selected from C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkylene radicals; andR.sub.11 and R.sub.12 are independently selected from allyl and methallyl.Also disclosed are various other aromatic vinyl ether compounds, chain-extended derivatives thereof, and liquid vinyl ether blends, and a method of making the aromatic vinyl ether compounds at high yield. The aromatic vinyl ether compounds, chain-extended vinyl derivatives, and/or liquid vinyl ether blends of the invention may be employed as vinyl ether components together with cationic photoinitiators, to provide cationically polymerizable vinyl ether compositions having utility in applications such as coatings, adhesives, and sealants.
