With Yarn Holding Means Patents (Class 57/131)
  • Publication number: 20080276592
Abstract: The invention relates to a thread clamping device for lower winding threads on spindles of a ring spinning frame or ring twisting frame. A clamping sleeve is provided between a clamping ring and a radially protruding flange on the spindle which can be axially displaced between a clamping position, which is defined by the position on the clamping ring, and an open position. The clamping sleeve is associated with an actuation device for the axial displacement thereof, which co-operates with radially extending means on the clamping sleeve. The clamping sleeves are associated with elements for fixing the position thereof at least in the clamping position. The aim of the invention is to introduce lower windings into the clamping gap and to improve the removal thereof from the clamping gap.

Abstract: A tension member for an elevator system has an aspect ratio of greater than one, where aspect ratio is defined as the ratio of tension member width w to thickness t (w/t). The increase in aspect ratio results in a reduction in the maximum rope pressure and an increased flexibility as compared to conventional elevator ropes. As a result, smaller sheaves may be used with this type of tension member. In a particular embodiment, the tension member includes a plurality of individual load carrying ropes encased within a common layer of coating. The coating layer separates the individual ropes and defines an engagement surface for engaging a traction sheave.

  • Patent number: 6085511
Abstract: An underwinding thread clamp for a spindle of a ring spinning or ring-twisting machine has a clamping sleeve biased by a spring against and juxtaposed with a collar on the spindle. The juxtaposed surfaces of the spindle and collar have wavy contours so that, upon engagement of an actuating member with each collar, the latter is cammed into its open position to release the respective underwinding thread so that the latter, engaged when a full bobbin was removed, can be released. The clamping of the underwinding thread permits the thread to be wound on the newly mounted core sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5528892
Abstract: A spindle shaft is flexurally elastic at its shank part mounted in a bearing sleeve. The spindle shaft carries a belt-engaging wharve which is arranged underneath the neck bearing and to which a drive belt engages to rotate the spindle shaft. The bearing sleeve is arranged to have radial play within a spindle housing 10. The bearing sleeve is fastened at its lower end via a flexurally elastic tilting joint 40 to the spindle housing 10 connected rigidly to the spindle rail. The pulling force of the drive belt engaged to the wharve during operation deflects the bearing sleeve radially by tilting it about the tilting joint. Such deflection brings about, on the other hand, a pivoting of the bobbin-carrying upper part of the spindle shaft about the neck bearing in the opposite direction as a result of the bending moment occurring on the shank part, an inclination of the spindle shaft with its upper part is thus avoided.

  • Patent number: 4196575
Abstract: Prior to doffing a bobbin package, the roving is severed to form a beard which is located adjacent a stop on the spindle. After the bobbin package is doffed, the beard is located adjacent to an axial stop on the spindle. When a fresh tube is donned, the roving beard is brushed down by the tube and clamped by the bottom of the tube against the axial stop. A new package can then be wound while the roving beard remains clamped.

  • Patent number: 3967440
Abstract: An improved device for cutting a tail-end yarn portion connecting a spiral wind formed on a yarn package and a tail-end winding formed on a base portion of each spindle of a textile machine, at the time of carrying out the doffing operation. A cutting device is mounted on a base portion of each spindle and a bobbin is supported by the spindle at a position right above the cutting device. The cutting device is provided with a ring shaped cutter and a guide member for holding the cutter and a crip member formed right below the guide member. The diameter of the guide member is larger than the diameter of the crip member and the guide member is provided with at least one cut-out groove, preferably a plurality of cut-out grooves, formed at the circumferential portion thereof so that a part of a knife edge of the cutter is projected outside therefrom but positioned within the outer-periphery of the guide member.
