    Abstract: A unique fishing rope comprising floating and sinking portions. The sinking portion blended yarns made up of a blend of first and second non-metallic synthetic filaments in proportions to yield a sinking rope portion having a specific gravity greater than one. The sinking rope portion comprises strands having yarns of substantially the same diameter. The floating portion of the rope is formed by replacing selected ones of the blended yarns in each strand with yarns formed of a material having a specific gravity of less than one. The replacement yarns and the blended yarns are of the same diameter to enhance the integrity and strength of the rope.

    Abstract: A composite rope obtained by process comprising, impregnating a multifilament with epoxy resin and half-setting the resin to form a prepreg, twisting the plural prepregs together to form a primarily-twisted product, and wrapping the primarily-twisted product with a yarn or a porous tape. When it is wound round the primarily-twisted product, the yarn is closely wound at an angle substantially perpendicular to an axis of the primarily-twisted product. The method further comprises twisting the plural primarily-twisted products thus wrapped to form a secondarily-twisted product and then heating the secondarily-twisted product to completely set the resin impregnated.

In other forms, the rope does not have a core and there are a plurality of strands braided (plaited) or laid (twisted) together primarily consisting of the low elongation components, but having high elongation components distributed substantially symmetrically and which in the aggregate have substantially less mass than the low elongation components.

    Abstract: Protective gloves and the like and a yarn comprising a core of a flexible wire alongside an aramid fiber strand or strands and a covering of aramid fiber such as that manufactured and sold under the trademark "Kevlar" by the DuPont Company of Wilmington, Del. in which the aramid fiber is either spun or filament. Two aramid fiber strands, either spun or filament, are wrapped around the core with one strand wrapped in a clockwise direction and the other strand wrapped in a counter-clockwise direction with the opposite spiral wrapping of the strands serving to secure the strands in position on the core without any other securing means. The yarn having a flexible core with aramid fiber strands wrapped thereon is used to make protective gloves on conventional glove knitting or weaving machinery and is capable of movement in relation to needle eyes and the like without jamming in the same manner as various natural and synthetic fiber yarns.
