Abstract: In a spinning position of a spinning machine a longitudinal fibre array first is refined in a drafting process, and the refined fibre array (10) then is subject to a twist imparting process, and is taken off the twist-imparting zone as a yarn (11). In case of an interruption of the spinning process the intake into the refinement zone is stopped before the delivery from the refining zone is stopped in such a manner that the longitudinal fibre array is severed between the intake and the delivery zones forming a free front end zone. The free end (11) of the yarn, generated by the interruption of the spinning process is treated in such a manner that a yarn end zone (1) is formed tapering off, and is positioned upstream from the twist imparting zone. Ad the spinning process is resumed the movements of the yarn end zone (1) and of the fibre array front end zone (2) for imparting twist are coordinated in time sequence in such a manner that these two zones overlap as they are subject to the twist imparting process.

  • Patent number: 5704204
Abstract: This invention is related to a yarn piecing apparatus of a spinning machine arranged with a holding member (12) that holds the parent yarn (Y') which is inserted in the hollow spindle (6) of the spindle member (5) which is seperated from the nozzle member (2), at a predetermined tension so that it does not rotate due to the rotating air current from the nozzle member. As the parent yarn (Y') inserted in the hollow spindle (6) of the spindle member (5) which is seperated from the nozzle member (2) is held by the holding member, there is no rotation of the parent yarn (Y') by the rotating air current and consequently, fibers can be reliably attached to the parent yarn (Y') and the success rate of yarn piecing can be increased.

  • Patent number: 5682718
Abstract: A yarn being spun in a spinning station of a spinning machine is drawn off with an apparatus which includes a pair of rollers for clamping the spun yarn in a gap between the rollers and transporting the spun yarn. The rollers include a draw-off roller being driven continuously in a draw-off direction at a given circumferential speed and a switchable feed roller for contacting the draw-off roller and for being driven through friction by the draw-off roller when contacting the draw-off roller. A method for drawing off the spun yarn includes positioning the yarn to be drawn off between the rollers while the feed roller is not contacting the draw-off roller. The feed roller is driven with a fluid in a circumferential direction and accelerated to a circumferential speed being at most the given circumferential speed. The feed roller is then placed in contact with the draw-off roller.

  • Patent number: 5619848
Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically removing a slub from spun filament yarn and a sliver or roving of staple fibers. The sliver or roving of staple fibers are fed through a drafting apparatus to prepare a continuous bundle of staple fibers. The filament yarn is pretensioned such that a texture is temporarily substantially removed. The continuous bundle of staple fibers and the filament yarn are combined downstream of the drafting apparatus. The combined continuous bundle and the filament yarn are fed into a spinner. The spun filament yarn and staple fibers are monitored to detect imperfections of a predetermined magnitude. A first signal is generated upon detection of an imperfection of the predetermined magnitude. The feeding of the staple fibers is stopped in response to the first signal. The core yarn is clamped at a predetermined position in response to the first signal.

  • Patent number: 5613355
Abstract: A method for rewinding a spinning cake from a spinning pot of a pot spinning apparatus onto a rewinding body, preferably onto a tube as a yarn carrier, includes drawing a sliver to be spun in a drafting configuration, guiding the sliver in a pneumatic piecing aid, and depositing the sliver with a traversing yarn guide onto an inner wall surface of the rotating spinning pot as the spinning cake, while maintaining a requisite rotation for formation of a yarn. A yarn guide is moved toward the middle of the spinning cake in a last stroke being shorter than a next-to-last stroke of the yarn guide toward the middle of the spinning cake, once a predetermined size of the spinning cake is reached, before initiating rewinding of the spinning cake onto the rewinding body. A delivery of the sliver from the drafting configuration is stopped once a reversing point of the stroke is reached. The rewinding body is introduced into the spinning pot and the yarn is transferred onto the rewinding body.

Abstract: Two parallel spun yarns (8, 8a) are wound onto a joint cross-wound bobbin (15) in the machine. If one of the yarns breaks (e.g. 8), the bobbin (15) and the supply of slivers (32, 32a) to the drafting arrangements (11, 11a) are stopped. An end of the unbroken yarn (8a) is taken up by a suction tube (69) and the broken end of the yarn (8) is wound up on the bobbin (15). The ends of the two yarns (8, 8a) are retrieved, reversely routed through the spinning units (12, 12a), the bobbin (15) and the draw-off device (14) are restarted and, the yarns (8, 8a) are deposited in and simultaneously withdrawn from the drafting arrangements (11, 11a) for joining therein with the end of restarted slivers (32, 32a). The sliver stoppers (30, 30a), however, are restarted at different times. In this manner, repair of a breakage in two yarns being jointly wound up on a common bobbin is achieved.
