    Abstract: On a textile machine, arL empty spool (12) is conveyed along a multiplicity of spool stations (1) situated next to one another. In a predetermined position relative to a grasping apparatus (3) the said empty spool (12) is stopped and is picked up by said grasping apparatus (3), and held by its circumferential surface. After its being lifted by the grasping apparatus (3), the spool (12) is retained in an axial alignment. This retention is discontinued, before the spool (12) is released at the spool station (1) where it is required. For the execution of this procedure, a retaining arrangement (8), composed of stopping devices (4 and 5), is provided for the spool (12) which is held by the grasping apparatus (3). The retaining arrangement (8) idles in a location outside of the transport path which the empty spool (12) will occupy when held.

The bobbin rail (5) and/or the guiding rails (14, 21, 22) can be moved back and forth. Fixed guiding rails (14) can rest on the bottom side of the flyer rail (3), and movable guiding rails (21, 22) are arranged in the area below the flyers (4). Such guiding rails may be designed to slide or swivel.

A bobbin exchanging apparatus is disposed at a location where both the transporting rails extend in parallel and close to each other. In the bobbin exchanging apparatus, bobbins suspended at different pitches from the respective bobbin transporting carriers travelling on the transporting rails in opposite directions, respectively, are exchanged.

The textile tube holders are advantageously rubber sections vulcanized onto the conveyor belt of various transverse cross-sections or metallic angular sections fastened to the conveyor belts.

In a method and apparatus for making packages a rewinding device is provided for a group of spinning stations. The rewinding device is able to perform all the manipulations for starting up a spinning process with empty yarn carriers. It is also possible to change the full yarn carriers and mount the empty yarn carriers on a spinning frame, remove thread breaks and carry out spinning following a batch change. Spinning of the individual yarn carriers takes place individually, so that when replacing one yarn carrier, the other spinning stations continue to operate. This leads to a high production rate of the ring spinning frame and simultaneously reduces costs for rewinding compared with known systems.

When doffing a fully wound bobbin from its supporting spindle, a trailing length of yarn from the doffed bobbin is helically placed about the spindle and, when subsequently donning an empty tube onto the spindle, the trailing yarn length is securely clamped at least partially between the empty tube and spindle, which trailing yarn length is automatically broken from the doffed bobbin upon its removal, to enable convenient automatic re-start of the machine.
