Patent number: 6314714Abstract: A device for producing spun yarn by means of an airflow acting in a twisting manner on the fibers of an untwisted sliver (1) as the sliver is being conducted into and through a spindle assembly (3). The spindle assembly (3) comprises a spindle head portion (5) which conically tapers toward a spindle inlet opening (2) and is rotatable independently of a spindle core portion (7) through which the yarn is withdrawn. The device suppresses any tendency of the yarn strength to decrease at high, increasing numbers of spindle revolutions.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2000Date of Patent: November 13, 2001Assignee: W. Patent number: 5398493Abstract: There is provided a spindle device for use in a spinning machine which produces little noise, which can eliminate the need for a rotational drive mechanism for a tubular spindle, for which bearing life is prolonged, and which can prevent waste threads from invading inside the bearings. A tubular spindle accommodated in a housing is rotatably supported by static-pressure pneumatic bearings. A cap, having nozzles and forming a spinning stream of air therein with compressed air blown off through the nozzles, is disposed at the tip portion of the tubular spindle. The tubular spindle radially supported by a film of air blown out through the static-pressure pneumatic bearings is rotated by the spinning stream of compressed air formed in the cap.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 1993Date of Patent: March 21, 1995Assignee: Koyo Seiko Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masayoshi Onishi, Takeshi Takahashi

Patent number: 5263310Abstract: A spinning apparatus which imparts a turning air stream to an untwisted short fiber bundle drafted by a draft device to twist it to produce a spun yarn. A guide member supporting body having an extreme end projected conically is secured within a nozzle block for imparting a turning air stream to a fiber bundle moved out of a draft device, and the guide member supporting body having one side cut to form a gap adjacent to the nozzle block.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1992Date of Patent: November 23, 1993Assignee: Murata Kikai Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Shigeki Mori

Patent number: 5211001Abstract: A pneumatic spinning apparatus for producing yarns having characteristics equal to those of ring spinning yarns. In the spinning apparatus, a guide member is mounted with an extreme end thereof faced to an inlet of a spindle within a nozzle block which exerts a turning air stream on a bundle of fibers moved out of a draft device, and a distance from the spindle inlet to a nip point of front rollers of the draft device is defined in a specified range.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 1991Date of Patent: May 18, 1993Assignee: Murata Kikai Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Shigeki Mori

Patent number: 5088265Abstract: An apparatus for producing a spun yarn comprising drafting units, delivery rollers and spinning devices disposed between the front rollers of each drafting unit and the corresponding delivery rollers. The spinning device guides a sliver drafter by the drafting unit along a substantially straight line and blows air against the running sliver so that some of the component fibers in the circumference of the sliver are fluffed out and caused to wind around the fibers forming the core of the sliver, and the circumferential speed of the delivery rollers is set to be equal to or higher than that of the front rollers.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 1990Date of Patent: February 18, 1992Assignee: Murata Kikai Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Buro Suganuma, Shinichi Nishimura, Akihiko Takeshita

Patent number: 4986066Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed relating to forming yarn by "vacuum spinning". A spinning nozzle assembly is provided which includes two axially aligned sections, each formed with a through passageway. Adjacent facing surfaces of the sections define a continuous radial slot through which air flow may be directed. The axially aligned sections of the nozzle are, in one exemplary embodiment, telescopically received within a sleeve mounted for rotation within a housing. The nozzle sections may be adjusted axially relative to each other to alter the dimension of the radial slot as desired, for example, in accordance with a predetermined yarn count.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1990Date of Patent: January 22, 1991Assignee: Burlington Industries, Inc.Inventor: Elbert F. Patent number: 4958487Abstract: An apparatus for producing a spun yarn comprises a rotary pipe having a sliver path for passing therethrough a sliver forwarded from a front roller of a draft device, a rotary plate formed in an integral relationsip at a location of the rotary pipe spaced from an entrance of the rotary pipe, and a casing for covering the rotary pipe and the rotary plate. The casing has a guide path formed therein for introducing and guiding a sliver from the front roller to the entrance of the rotary pipe and guide path has a dam member disposed therein for introducing a sliver of a substantially flattened configuration forwarded from the front roller.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1988Date of Patent: September 25, 1990Assignee: Murata Kikai Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Buro Suganuma, Shinichi Nishimura, Akihiko Takeshita

Patent number: 4147019Abstract: The supplied strand is provided with a permanent twist due to the rotating balloon and a superimposed false twist due to a false twist device prior to winding onto the bobbin package. Prior to winding on the package, the false twist is eliminated so that the resultant roving has relatively high breaking strength for handling purposes while remaining draftable. The false twist device is located between the delivery rolls and spindle to rotate coaxially around the spindle and may be driven by the balloon or by a positive drive.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 1978Date of Patent: April 3, 1979Assignee: Rieter Machine Works, Ltd.Inventor: Peter Novak

Patent number: 4135356Abstract: An improved rotatable twist tube device is disclosed for false twist texturing a continuous filament thermoplastic yarn being passed through the twist tube. The twist tube comprises a hollow shaft rotor constituted as the rotor of an electric motor. Two bell housings, one attached to each end of the motor body, house ball bearings which support the hollow shaft rotor near each of its ends. A friction bushing is positioned in each end of the hollow shaft rotor. The friction bushings each have a rounded front friction surface and have a back surface extending outwards from the hollow shaft rotor. The improvement comprises an annular extension of each bell housing which projects beyond the end of the hollow shaft rotor and encompass a portion of the adjacent bushing. The annular extension of each bell housing is adapted to prevent yarn wraps on the outside of the hollow shaft rotor by deflecting such wraps onto the surface of the friction bushing.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 1978Date of Patent: January 23, 1979Assignee: Du Pont of Canada LimitedInventor: Michael J.
