  • Patent number: 5950411
Abstract: A device for transmitting yarn monitor signals to the control circuit of an open-end spinning station for determining whether a yarn spun by the spinning station is being drawn off or whether the yarn travel has been interrupted so that, in case of a yarn break, the infeed of the sliver into the spinning station is interrupted. Defects in electronic components in the circuit of the yarn monitor or in the sensor can result in a continuous yarn traveling signal to the control circuit of the spinning station despite a yarn break. The present invention therefore provides a receiver (5') for contactless receiving the yarn signal of the monitor and an oscillator (16) which can be actuated and deactuated based on the receiver output signal.

  • Patent number: 5950415
Abstract: A flexible sealing ring is arranged at an opening roller of an open-end spinning machine which rotates in a chamber of a housing connected to a vacuum source, which sealing ring is supported concentrically to the opening roller in the housing. In order to seal the chamber against the open atmosphere, the sealing ring comprises a sealing lip, to which a sealing surface of a collar of the opening roller is arranged. The sealing ring is disposed, under the action of the pressure drop present between the open atmosphere and the chamber, on a stopping surface which determines the operational position of the sealing ring, which stopping surface is itself arranged preferably at the housing, while, however, in some embodiments, it is arranged at the opening roller itself. The sealing lip defines the smallest diameter of the sealing ring, which is larger than the diameter of the combing structure of the opening roller.

  • Patent number: 5901546
Abstract: With channels for the conveying of fibers, fiber slivers or yarns on spinning machines, problems are encountered in their manufacture. The channels must be made with a certain inside contour, where at the same time the quality of the surface inside the channel must be very good. The high surface quality is required in order to ensure trouble-free conveying. A channel is therefore proposed which is made as a tubular component, consisting of a metallic material and which has been produced by forming its interior by a medium under pressure. It is proposed for an open-end rotor spinning device to form the conveying channel separately from the other components of the lid of the rotor housing and to insert the channel into the lid. It is proposed in that case to use a channel according to the design shown above.

The cross sectional area of the outlet opening of the fibre feed channel measures at least 19 mm.sup.2 and amounts to at least 30% of the cross sectional area of the entry opening. As a result of the bend in the fibre feed channel, the fibres are collected together in a fibre bundle on a longitudinal side of the fibre feed channel. The fibre bundle occupies only a part area of the outlet opening when leaving the fibre feed channel and is fed with high precision onto the sliding wall. The outlet opening can thus have larger dimensions without this leading to inaccurate feeding of the fibres.

  • Patent number: 5689946
Abstract: An opening roller for an open-end spinning arrangement is provided with a combing ring, which is slidably mounted onto a base body and is supported between two clamping surfaces. In order to fix the combing ring radially to a cylindrical guiding surface of the base body, the combing ring is provided with a centering surface on its inner circumferential surface. The combing ring has stopping surfaces on its end sides, which are arranged to engage the clamping surfaces. The centering surface is limited to an end area of the inner circumferential surface. The part of the inner circumferential surface of the combing ring which is located outside of this end area is free from counter-surfaces of the base body. As a result of this arrangement, the seat-engaging surfaces are on the one hand very short, while on the other hand various embodiments of combing rings can be used.

  • Patent number: 5685137
Abstract: An open-end spinning unit having a one-piece fiber guide conduit inserted between the opening roller housing and the rotor housing is drawn from a steel tube and embodied as an interchangeable component. The fiber guide conduit can be releasably mounted at one end in the opening roller housing in a seating recess and at the other end in the rotor housing in a bore of a sealing plate that is attached to the rotor housing. The sealing plate maintains a low pressure condition created by a vacuum line attached to the rotor housing. This low pressure condition induces the pneumatic conveyance of opened fibers from the opening roller to the rotor through the fiber guide conduit. Sealing components, such as an O-ring in the opening roller housing and a sealing nozzle at the rotor housing assure that a sealed connection of the fiber guide conduit both with the opening roller housing and with the sealing plate is maintained for pneumatic conveyance.

Abstract: In the case of a mounting for an opening roller comprising a plurality of teeth, all the tooth faces and the tooth backs are inclined in rotational direction. At their tips, the tooth faces form an angle relative to an opening roller radial plane of between 10.degree. and 30.degree. . The tooth backs are more inclined to the radial plane at the tooth tips than at the tooth bases. The tooth backs are inclined at the tooth tips in such a way that an extension of the tangent to the tooth back at the tooth tip intersects the tooth face of the following tooth at an intersecting point which is between one-fifth and four-fifths of the tooth height of the following tooth. At least one-half of a tooth height from the tooth tip to the tooth base has a roller circumferential direction width which is at least as large as the distance between the back of the respective tooth and the face of a next adjacent following tooth.

Abstract: In preparation of the piecing process in an open-end rotor spinning device, negative pressure is first applied in a housing containing the spinning rotor, and the rotor cover is brought from its operating position into a fiber evacuation position in which it is lifted off from the housing. Fiber feeding is then switched on. The fiber stream produced thereby, together with the air stream which conveys the fibers is deflected and is evacuated by means of the negative pressure prevailing in the housing over the open rotor edge from the interior of the rotor and from the housing, until the rotor cover is brought back into its operating position to convey fibers to the fiber collection groove.
