  • Patent number: 5111651
Abstract: An open-end spinning device with a fiber feeding channel which extends from a housing with a rotating opening roller to a spinning element. The fiber feeding channel comprises two channel sections which can be moved towards each other and can be brought into alignment with each other. The first channel section is located in an insert of the housing and is capable of axial movement in the housing. The insert is urged by an elastic element in the direction of the second channel section and is covered by a screen on its end towards the interior of the housing, at least on the downstream side (with reference to the rotational direction of the opening roller). A seal is located between the insert and the housing.

Abstract: A sliver feeding and opening device includes an outlet opening for passage of separated fibers to the rotor and an intake opening for the intaking of sliver to be separated into fibers. An intermediate opening is disposed in the chamber of the housing of the device at a location downstream of the outlet opening and upstream of the intake opening. Abstract: The method of, and apparatus for, producing a yarn uses a friction spinning device comprising a perforated first friction spinning drum and a second friction spinning drum which can also be perforated. Two fiber feed passages project to the first friction spinning drum and are each supplied by opening assemblies which individualize or individually separate the fibers. The fibers are transported toward the first friction spinning drum using a feed air stream in the fiber feed passages. This feed air stream is produced by the first friction spinning drum which is maintained under sub-pressure. Advantageously, the fiber double-feed to the friction spinning drum permits supplying two different fiber types to the same yarn end. Also, different inclinations of the fibers at the friction spinning drum can be obtained by different inclinations of the fiber feed passages in order to produce yarns of different character.

  • Patent number: 4672804
Abstract: A friction spinning apparatus comprises a combing roller (19) for opening and feeding fibers in a duct (16, 15) to a throat (Q) formed between the outer surfaces of a pair of perforated and smooth surface drums (10, 12) arranged in parallel to each other and rotating in the same direction. A yarn (Y) formed at the throat (Q), by frictional contact between the fed fibers and the surfaces caused by a suction force, is withdrawn along the throat (Q). The duct (15, 16) is arranged to feed the fibers in an air stream having a direction inclined to the yarn axis (YL) and has a nozzle (17) in the form of a double pipe in the midportion thereof. A compressed air is ejected from the annular slit (17a) between the inner and outer pipe of the nozzle (17) to drag the fibers out from the nozzle (17) to cause them to stretch, whereby the fibers can be conveyed on the throat (Q) in the stretched state.

  • Patent number: 4653264
Abstract: An arrangement is provided for open-end friction spinning including a pair of adjacently arranged suction rollers rotatable in the same rotational direction. One roller rotates into the wedge-shaped gap formation zone and the other rotates out of the wedge-shaped gap. It is provided that the suction slot of the suction insert inside of the roller rotating into the wedge-shaped gap is longer than the suction slot of the suction insert of the roller rotating out of the wedge-shaped gap. The portion of the suction slot of the roller rotating into the yarn formation zone which extends beyond the slot of the roller rotating out of the yarn formation zone is displaced circumferentially from the wedge-shaped gap so as to provide for enhanced spinning conditions in the region of the yarn tip.

  • Patent number: 4640089
Abstract: Fibers delivered in a freely floating state in a fiber transport passage are to be laid in a predetermined disposition on a friction spinning element, such as a friction spinning drum or disc. For this purpose, an opening region of the fiber transport passage is provided with a converging portion in which the airstream is supplementarily accelerated relative to a preceding acceleration. This supplementary acceleration serves to assist in bringing the fibers into the predetermined disposition on the friction spinning drum. The friction spinning device comprises an opening roller which is rotatably supported in a housing. The housing is connected to the fiber transport passage. The opening of the fiber transport passage extends close to a cylindrical surface of the friction spinning drum. The fibers leaving the opening are transported on the friction spinning drum towards a yarn formation position where they are twisted into a yarn which is withdrawn in a selectable withdrawal direction by withdrawal rollers.

  • Patent number: 4628679
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for production of yarn by friction spinning is disclosed. The friction spinning method employs a perforated friction spinning drum towards which a fibre feed passage projects. An opening roller, known from the open-end rotor spinning process, feeds separated fibres into the fibre feed passage, which fibres are taken up by a transport air flow in the fibre feed passage. This transport air flow is produced by the perforated friction spinning drum which is subjected to underpressure. Fibres leaving an opening of the fibre feed passage are laid in an inclined disposition on the perforated friction spinning drum and transported in this disposition towards a yarn end forming at a yarn formation position. The spun yarn is withdrawn by a withdrawal roller pair. Advantageously, a second friction spinning drum is provided parallel to the first perforated friction spinning drum to cause the fibre twisting-in process to take place in a more accurately defined manner.

Abstract: In the case of an arrangement for open-end friction spinning having two friction rollers that are arranged next to one another to form a wedge-shaped yarn forming gap, the frictional effect is reduced in the area of the yarn tip of the forming yarn. As a result, it is avoided that the yarn tip moves through the wedge-shaped gap. It is also ensured that a fiber transport takes place into this area of the wedge-shaped gap where the yarn tip is formed. This fiber transport is caused by an air current generated by an additional suction device, acting as an extension of the yarn tip.

According to the invention, in an open-end spinning unit having a fiber passage through which fibers opened by the combing roller are carried into the spinning chamber of the rotor, one or more nozzles are provided in the unit, each nozzle having an outlet opening located adjacent to the fiber outlet opening of the fiber passage so that one or more streams of jet air, emitted from the nozzle or nozzles, direct and guide the fibers introduced into the chamber toward the interior peripheral surface of the spinning chamber of the rotor, thus causing the fibers to reach said surface immediately without being slowed or bent by ambient air streams within the chamber. Consequently, formation of yarn having bent or randomly attached fibers is substantially prevented, whereby the strength and quality of the spun yarn is greatly improved.
