  • Patent number: 6101811
Abstract: A quick connect coupling for use in a hydraulic clutch control system including a hydraulic master cylinder and a hydraulic slave cylinder. One of the coupler members of the quick connect coupling includes a central axial passage defining an inlet at one end of the passage and including a diaphragm positioned at the other end of the passage at right angles to the passage in fluid communication with fluid flowing through the passage. The passage further includes a radial passage portion communicating with the central passage and extending to a fluid port for the coupler member. Hydraulic fluid flowing through the coupler member communicates with an inboard face of the diaphragm so that the diaphragm functions to attenuate pulsations in the hydraulic fluid and preclude transmission of the pulsations rearwardly in the system to the clutch pedal.

  • Patent number: 6098405
Abstract: A tube-line pressure sensor of a medical-appliance driving apparatus detects the interior pressure of a tube line. If the pressure detected by a tube-line pressure sensor is equal to or less than a predetermined value, a first solenoid valve is closed, while a second solenoid valve is opened, whereby a gas is supplied from a secondary gas tank to the tube line. The amount of gas supplied to the tube line is calculated based on a pressure change in the tank detected by a tank pressure sensor. In actual use, natural gas leakage during normal operation can be clearly distinguished from abnormal gas leakage due to an accident. The interior pressure of the tube line is detected at a time when the balloon is about to inflate from the deflated state, and a gas supply system supplies the driving gas to the tube line so that the detected pressure becomes a preset pressure value. A controller can change the preset pressure value.

  • Patent number: 6058705
Abstract: The invention relates to a hydraulic brake system having a tandem master cylinder as the brake force set-point value transducer for braking by external force, downstream of which are disconnection valves for hydraulically disconnecting the master cylinder from wheel brake cylinders for external force braking. To achieve a pedal travel when the disconnection valves are closed, the invention proposes a lengthened idle travel of the pistons of the master cylinder, for instance by increasing a valve opening stroke of central valves integrated with the pistons. A travel-dependent pedal force is realized with simulator spring elements that act upon the pistons.

Abstract: A hydraulic actuator assembly of the type including a hydraulic system comprising a master cylinder, a slave cylinder, and a conduit interconnecting the master and slave cylinder. One-way valve means are provided, either mounted on the master cylinder or interposed in the conduit interconnecting the master and slave cylinders, and these valve means function to block communication between the system and the associated reservoir when the system if pressurized but allow flow of replenishing fluid from the reservoir into the system when the system is depressurized to compensate for system losses and wear in the associated vehicular mechanism. The valve further includes a manual override member in the form of a plunger which is manually depressed and which moves a valving member of the valve to a position in which it establishes communication between the reservoir port and the system port so that fluid may be moved from the system and into the reservoir even when the system is pressurized.

  • Patent number: 4694652
Abstract: In order to accommodate all of the tolerances along the bore centerline plane of the reservoir mount for a master cylinder, the reservoir bayonets or projections extending into the boss bores of the master cylinder body are at a reduced diameter established by worst case tolerancing. This results in greater side-to-side clearance perpendicular to the bore center-line than is desired in many instances, giving a relatively loose reservoir fit. To reduce this side-to-side clearance, locally raised ribs or the like are added to the reservoir mount bayonets to better match the diameter in the machined body reservoir bosses provided by the boss reservoir mounting surfaces. The clearance is reduced by locally increasing the diameter of the reservoir bayonet mounts based on worst case tolerancing considering only one reservoir mounting member and its associated mounting boss independently of the other mounting member and its associated mounting boss.

  • Patent number: 4679680
Abstract: A master cylinder employed in connection with a fluid actuated motor vehicle clutch system. The master cylinder includes an internal reservoir formed by a portion of the same cylindrical housing which makes up the clutch actuating working chamber. A plug is provided within the cylindrical housing to divide the housing into two sections, a working chamber and a reservoir chamber. The plug further includes a check valve system which permits fluid to flow into and out of the working chamber from the reservoir as the fluid capacity of the associated hydraulic circuit changes. Flow into and out of the reservoir is permitted to occur only when an externally applied load to the master cylinder is released. The reservoir chamber includes a slidable piston and a low spring constant helical spring which biases the reservoir plunger to provide a slight hydrostatic pressure for the fluid contained by the reservoir, thereby preventing the ingestion of air or contaminants.

  • Patent number: 4665702
Abstract: A supply tank for supplying fluid to a tandem master brake cylinder of a motor vehicle. The tank has a bottom section and a top section which is not shown. The bottom section comprises a partition wall which separates the two chambers from each other, the partition wall being formed with a passage which is arranged approximately in the center of the bottom section. In each chamber, an outlet is configured at each end of the bottom section. From each outlet and along the partition wall toward the middle of the bottom section, there extends one pipe which has an opening respective at its free end. The openings are positioned below the minimum admissible fluid level. The purpose achieved by the configuration of the pipes within the supply tank is that the effect of an inclination of the supply tank does not impair the efficiency of the hydraulic fluid and that, consequently, the outlets are supplied with hydraulic fluid at all times and in any condition.
