  • Patent number: 10996473
Abstract: A data space such as a virtual/augmented reality environment is generated, through which a viewer/point of view may move. The physical world motion of a display outputting the data space is sensed, received, or computed. The motion of a physical world environment in which the display also is sensed, received, or computed. An output adjustment is determined from the display and environment motions, typically being equal to the environment motion(s). Motion of a point of view within the data space to be outputted by the display is determined. The viewpoint motion corresponds with the display motion within physical space adjusted by the output adjustment. At least part of the data space is outputted to the display from the point of view. The point of view is navigated through the data space according to the viewpoint motion.

Abstract: The LEDs in a phototherapy LED pad are controlled so that the intensity of the light varies in accordance with a sinusoidal function, thereby eliminating the harmonics that are generated when the LEDs are pulsed digitally, in accordance with a square-wave function. This is accomplished analogically by using a sinusoidal wave to control the gate of a MOSFET connected in series with the LEDs or by using a digital-to-analog converter to control the gate of the MOSFET with a stair step function representative of the values of a sinusoidal function at predetermined intervals. Alternatively, pulse-width modulation is used to control the gate of the MOSFET in such a way that the average current through the LEDs simulates a sinusoidal function. In additional to using a simple sine wave function, the LED current may also be controlled in accordance with “chords” containing multiple sine waves of different frequencies.

  • Patent number: 10155121
Abstract: Visual or photic stimuli generating methods, devices and control systems for inducing steady-state visual evoked potential (SSVEP) from human viewers without causing discomfort to the viewers or distorting the embedding images are disclosed. The control system includes a stimuli-generating device and an electroencephalography (EEG) sensing device. The stimuli-generating device includes a first and a second light source. The first light source generates a flickering light with a first wavelength while a second light source generates another flickering light with one or more wavelength(s) differ from that of the first one. Together, the light sources generate visual/photic stimuli flickering above their critical flicker fusion threshold while maintaining the colorfulness and hue of the embedding images. At least one electrode of the EEG sensing device is connected to each viewer, configured to receive and analyze his/her EEG signals in order to detect and determine his/her responses to the stimuli.

  • Patent number: 10052452
Abstract: Dream stage enhancement uses a headband with EEG-EOG sensors, onboard processors, memory, coarse and fine time REM waveform detection modules, LEDs and an audio playback unit. After normalization to the user's EEG waveforms, the user's EEG-EOG signals are processed, REM and NREM stages detected and light, sound or AV stimuli are presented to the user based upon user-supplied light-sound-AV stimuli commands. To provide a reality check control (“RCC”), the head unit has a user actuatable RC interface whereby during sleep, RC stimuli are presented when the user depresses the RCC control which plays back the user supplied stimulus. In a “learning mode,” the user selects “Recall” or “No Recall” (“NR”) after the sleep period. If NR, then the system changes the color of light stimuli, light intensity, flash, audio sound type, audio intensity, and AV. If “Recall” the user supplied stimuli commands are carried out.

Abstract: A lamp for generating flickering at a selectable frequency corresponding to a desired human brainwave state comprises a base supporting a light source, a shade having a plurality of regularly circumferentially spaced apertures defined therein and a drive mechanism for rotating the shade about the light source. At least one speed control is coupled to the drive mechanism for controlling the rotational speed of the shade. Rotation of the shade while the light source is emitting light produces flickering for an observer looking at the lamp from a fixed position, and the speed control can be used to select a rotational speed of the shade to produce flickering at a frequency corresponding to a pre-selected human brainwave state.
