Abstract: A tissue and/or cell sampling device for biopsies having a catheter sized for translation through a lumen on an instrument such as a bronchoscope. An aspiration needle engaged to a control member is employable by translation to remove a core of tissue from a sampling location. The translation can be limited to maintain the needle retracted into an axial passage. Forceps or a brush are translatably engaged within the axial core of the needle and are translatable from the tip of the needle to take tissue and/or cell samples. The device is employable to allow for use of either sampling device independently, or sequently, to allow deep tissue and/or cell samples to be retrieved from the distal end of the core tissue sample retrieved by the needle.

Abstract: A biopsy device includes a body portion, a tip, at least one blade, and a cutter. The cannula defines at least one lumen. The cannula has a transverse aperture configured to receive tissue. The tip is located at the distal end of the cannula, and may include at least two concave surfaces. The blade extends longitudinally from the tip. A second blade may also extend longitudinally from the tip. Blades may be axially staggered relative to the cannula. Blades may also have lengths that differ from one another. In addition, a blade may have a pointed distal end, or may have a curved distal edge. The configuration of the blade and tip may provide reduced force to penetrate tissue. The blade and tip may produce a cut length that is greater than or equal to the length of the outer perimeter of the cannula.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a device (1) to allow providing testing of tissue of prostate gland (3) using two or more biopsy needles (4, 5, 6, etc.) essentially simultaneously. According to the invention a guiding (7) for said needles (4-6) is arranged to act on said needles, which preferably have a built-in curvature,-.so that the needles (4-6) are curved by said guiding to get the needles, when using the device, to extend along a peripheral part of the prostate gland (3) in question to allow testing in said peripheral part (2) of the same.

Abstract: A biopsy device comprises a body, a needle, and a cutter operable to sever tissue protruding through a lateral aperture of the needle. A vacuum pump is in fluid communication with the cutter. A fluid pump is in fluid communication with the needle. A fluid pump actuation assembly is operable to actuate the fluid pump to deliver a bolus of fluid to the needle based on movement of the cutter. A valve assembly responsive to cutter movement is operable to selectively couple the needle with the fluid pump, couple the needle with atmospheric air, or seal the needle relative to the fluid pump and atmospheric air. The fluid from the fluid pump and atmospheric air cooperate with the vacuum to urge severed tissue samples proximally through the cutter.
