Abstract: A disposable garment includes a gasket around one or more openings for the legs, arms, waist or the like on a wearer. At least a portion of the garment includes a targeted elastic material including zones of high and low elastic tension and/or high and low stretch in the same material, integrated during formation of the material. The targeted elastic material is positioned so that at least one high tension and/or low stretch zone is aligned with at least one garment opening, and at least one low tension and/or high stretch zone is aligned inward of the high tension and/or low stretch zone, thereby functioning as a gasket without requiring a separately manufactured, attached elastic band.

Abstract: Disclosed in an absorbent article including a main body and leakage preventing walls. The leakage preventing walls extend longitudinally and lie opposite one another transversely. Each wall is formed of a nonwoven fabric having corrugations, the crests and valleys of which alternate with each other in the longitudinal direction. The nonwoven fabric is provided with an elastic member extending in the longitudinal direction for exhibiting longitudinal shrinking force. The elastic member is adhered to the valleys of the corrugations of the nonwoven fabric with an adhesive. The adhesive is applied to the surface of the elastic member in a band or linear shape continuous in the axial direction of the elastic member and appears regularly or at random at an interval on an arbitrary line which is set on the surface of the elastic member to extend parallel to the axial direction.

The waist regions are connected with each other in bonding zones extending along transversely opposite side edge portions thereof so as to define a waist-opening and a pair of leg-openings. First elastic members are bonded under tension to peripheral edge of the waist-opening and second elastic members are bonded under tension to peripheral edges of the leg-openings so that respective opposite ends of the first elastic members are positioned and fixed at first zones defined immediately inside the bonding zones in a circumferential direction of the waist-opening and respective opposite ends of the second elastic members are positioned and fixed at second zones defined immediately inside the bonding zones in a circumferential direction Y of the leg-openings.

Abstract: Absorbent articles such as disposable diapers, incontinent briefs, diaper holders, training pants, feminine hygiene garments and the like, that have a unique waist feature that improves the dynamic fit as well as the containment characteristics of the absorbent article. Such absorbent articles comprise a chassis assembly preferably comprising a liquid pervious topsheet, a liquid impervious backsheet, and an absorbent core positioned between the topsheet and the backsheet; an extensible back waist feature; and a closure system for maintaining the absorbent article on the wearer. The extensible back waist feature provides an extensible feature that provides a more comfortable and contouring fit by initially conformably fitting the diaper to the wearer and by sustaining this fit. The extensible back waist feature has a hip panel, a central waistband panel, and a pair of side panels. The force/extension characteristics of each panel is designed to provide such improved fit and containment.

Abstract: The present invention comprises a continuous feed spun bonded laminate having improved elastic properties measured at body temperature. The laminate comprises at least one first and second nonelastic layers between which is sandwiched at least one elastic layer, the elastic layer being comprised of a triblock polystyrene-poly(ethylene/propylene)-polystyrene (“SEPS”) copolymer having a number average molecular weight of about 81,000 g/mol. The weight percent of styrene is approximately 18% and the weight percent of ethylene/propylene is approximately 82%. The molecular weight increase in the EP block, while holding the molecular weight of the styrene block constant, increases the entanglement density, polymer chain persistence length and the relaxation time. The resulting laminate load decay rate and load loss measurements over a period of 12 hours at body temperature showed marked improvement over known CFSBL product.

Abstract: An absorbent pad having elasticized side flaps is adapted to provide improved leakage performance and comfort. In one embodiment, the elastic member of each side flap is at least partly out of the plane of the absorbent assembly when the absorbent pad is in a generally flat position, and the absorbent pad has a Gurley stiffness of greater than 2000 milligrams. In another embodiment, the absorbent pad has an anti-roll back feature and an Effective Elastic Value of at least 30 millimeters.

Abstract: A disposable sanitary garment includes a chassis defining an outer surface thereof, the chassis is provided along its transversely opposite side edge portions destined to extend around a wearer's thighs with a pair of first leg-hole elastic members extending circumferentially around the thighs and with a pair of second leg-hole elastic members describing a circular arc being convex inwardly of the garment. The chassis is folded back inwardly of the garment along one side edges of the respective members with the second leg-hole elastic members inside and a portion of the chassis extending inside the zone along which the chassis has been first folded back is folded back along the other side edges of the respective members.

Abstract: An absorbent article is provided which comprises an absorbent body having a front waist portion, a back waist portion, a crotch portion, a pair of spaced apart leg openings, and a fastening region intermediate the crotch portion and the front waist portion. An elasticized band member is attached to the back waist portion and has a left hand band portion and a right hand band portion, both extending angularly from the area of the back waist portion toward the fastening region. The ends of each of the band portions are adapted to be engaged to one another and to the fastening region, and they may be tensioned to securely fasten the absorbent article to the body of the wearer.

Abstract: A three-piece tape landing zone is provided which allows repeated fastening and unfastening of the tape tabs for inspection of the diaper. The three-piece TLZ is located at the front waist portion of the diaper. A center TLZ piece is positioned between and overlaps or underlaps the edges of the two outer TLZ pieces. The center TLZ piece has release characteristics different from that of the outer two pieces such that the tape tabs do not adhere securely to the center TLZ piece. This arrangement ensures correct alignment of the tape tabs on the outer TLZ surfaces.

Abstract: The invention relates to liquid-absorbent articles, including diapers, training pants, incontinence guards, and sanitary napkins. Characteristic for the invention is that at least one of the end portions of the absorbent body has a longitudinally tapering shape with a rounded outer edge and that an elastic means is pretensionally applied in a cover enclosing the absorbent body and extends across the article and in a curved path outside the rounded end portion of the absorbent body and equidistantly from the rounded edge. Due to its striving to contract, the elastic means in the curved path section exerts tensile forces across the elastic in a direction towards the center of curvature of the curved path section. When the article is in use, the elastic means, due to the tensile force, lifts the cover around the rounded edge of the absorbent body for formation of a leakage barrier which projects vertically above the absorbent body.

In a first embodiment, a first zone of the outer cover is embossed forming a pattern of embossments providing a first set of desired properties pertaining to stretch of a portion of the outer cover. A second zone of the outer cover is not modified to provide the first set of properties and thus has different stretch properties than the first zone. In a second embodiment, a first panel is secured to a resiliently extensible second panel. A first zone of the second panel can have a pattern of embossments securing the second panel to the first panel. The embossments cause the first zone to have different stretch properties than a second zone of the second panel that is not embossed thereby to impart the set of stretch properties. In a third embodiment the second panel is pre-stretched to a predetermined degree of elongation before securement to the first panel.

One segment of each path follows at least a portion of a leg edge-portion and the paths together enclose a collection region positioned between the article's leg edge-portions, which region, under the influence of the elastic elements, bulges and forms a fluid-collecting basin.
