Patent number: 5520675Abstract: A unique feminine hygiene pad includes a tail that extends rearwardly from a main portion of the pad to be received within the buttocks of a wearer. The tail insures that there will be no leakage flow rearwardly into the buttocks of the wearer, as has typically occurred with prior art pads. In addition, a positioning point is formed on a main absorbent portion of the pad which properly positions the pad relative to the vagina of a wearer. In this way, it can be assured that the pad is properly positioned, and a minimum sized pad can be utilized.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1994Date of Patent: May 28, 1996Inventor: Annette Knox-Sigh

Patent number: 5243974Abstract: A garment in the general form of an improved athletic supporter includes a genital pouch depending from and attached to a waist band. The pouch comprises a front panel and a rear panel, joined at the bottom to form an open-top pocket. The respective top portions of the front and rear panels are provided with releasable fastening means, preferably hook-and-loop fasteners, so that the pocket can be selectively closed and reopened. A packet containing a chilling medium, such as ice, and conforming to the pocket, is inserted into the pocket. When the garment is worn with the chilling medium packet installed in the pocket, the chilling medium is held in close proximity to a surgical site or a site of mild trauma in the scrotal or inguinal area, thereby affording a degree of relief from pain and inflammation. The pouch offers genital support and limits the movement of the genitals, thereby reducing strain that can exacerbate the pain and inflammation and inhibit healing.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1992Date of Patent: September 14, 1993Inventor: Marcus W. Patent number: 4932950Abstract: The invention is a self-adjusting suspension system which is incorporated into the structure of a perineal shield. A flexible strand is provided at corner locations on the perimeter of the shield. A separate waistband portion has one or more elastic tensioning strips which are slidably connected by followers to the flexible strands at the corners. The follower divides the flexible strand into two directed segments, one to each side of the follower. Each directed segment is oriented towards the adjacent corner location on that side of the follower and secured to the perimeter of the shield. When tension is applied to the followers so that the flexible strands are also placed in tension, the followers slide along the strands until the tensions in the strands to each side of the followers are equal and the tension around the perimeter of the shield is approximately uniform. Substantially no tension is directed towards the midspan of the shield.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 1988Date of Patent: June 12, 1990Assignee: Weyerhaeuser CompanyInventor: Russell L. Johnson
