  • Patent number: 4551993
Abstract: A necklace which openably closes at clapsed ends meant to be worn centered at the nape of the wearer's neck is provided with a decorative element mounted on a slider which is slidably received on the necklace. The internal transverse sectional profile of the slider at least generally corresponds to the external transverse sectional profile of the chain or strand of the necklace, so that the decorative element always will slide under the influence of gravity to the frontal lowest part of the necklace, but will remain having a facing-outward disposition generally centered heightwise on the chain or strand of the necklace. By preference the chain or strand of the necklace is an elongated flexible element of flattened oval or rectangular transverse sectional shape.

  • Patent number: 4381653
Abstract: An article of jewellery, especially in the shape of a butterfly or insect has two attachments, one for each end of a chain or a string. The attachments are fixed to the free ends of inherently rigid wires, the other ends of said wires being fastened to a body of said article of jewellery in such a way that they articulate freely with said body. An eye or sleeve encircling each one of said wires and being slideable along these wires is fixed to one end of an elongated part of a pair of such elongated parts, the other ends of the latter being fastened to the body of the article of jewellery in such a way that they articulate freely with said body, the points of attachment of said elongated parts on said body being spaced apart from the points of attachment of said wires on said body. This construction allows a movement between different parts of the article of jewellery when the wearer of the article of jewellery moves, creating interesting changes in the contour of the article of jewellery.

  • Patent number: 4154064
Abstract: Costume jewelry is manufactured through photofabrication processes from flat metal sheets to form items such as earrings and small pendants. A standard photo-fabrication operation includes covering a metal sheet with a layer of photosensitive, chemically resistive material commonly referred to as a photoresist. Portions of the covered sheet are exposed to light to outline the earrings and pendants on the sheet. The sheet is then developed and the exposed metal surface portions are chemically etched to remove excess metal and form the earrings and pendants. Thereafter, surface treatments involve supplementary photofabrication operations to provide different colors and finishes on the earrings and pendants by etching, plating and staining the exposed metal surfaces, all of which are supplemented by the retention of portions of photoresist layers of selected colors.

  • Patent number: 4142383
Abstract: A method for the production of decorative objects by providing a viscous liquid and a particulate metal and/or mineral through an opening in a hollow transparent glass envelope and then bonding a cap over the opening with a resin impervious to said liquid is described. The refractive index of the viscous liquid and glass are approximately equal visually. The viscous liquid is preferably glycerine admixed with clear miscible solvents which reduce the viscosity depending upon the metal or mineral used. The liquid is provided through the opening in the hollow glass envelope without wetting the sides of the opening in a manner which leaves a gas (air) pocket inside the envelope adjacent the opening and above the liquid and then a cap is bonded over the opening adjacent the gas pocket. The decorative object is preferably in the form of jewelry, such as earrings or pendants.

The frame sections have inner faces that are abutable against one another and outer edges which are secured to one another. One of the frames has a series of indentations positioned along the outer edge whereas the outer frame section has a plurality of bosses extending from the outer edge which are received by the indentations when the inner faces of the frames abut one another. A typing member is positioned around the outer edge of the frame sections such as a coil spring received in a groove that extends downwardly from the outer edges towards the center of the opening. One end of the spring may be tapered for insertion into the opposite end of the spring to provide a removable connecting member.

  • Patent number: 4089096
Abstract: In school jewelry such as school rings, bezel ring top keys, and ring top charms used as souvenirs and prom favors, a school ring top is provided having a beveled bezel and a stone with a faceted pavilion. The school ring top closely simulates the appearance of a die struck or cast ring top and provides clear and legible letters spelling out school-related information in its bezel which is made from a developed photographic film sheet with a reflecting backing layer. The bezel is slanted and of sufficient height for easy reading from a side view as well as a top view, and for accommodating a stone with a faceted pavilion. Three methods of making the miniature ring top are disclosed. One method includes doming the bezel by applying pressure to form a dome section, and then cutting a bezel out of the dome section. A second method includes cutting a bezel strip, removing a pie section from the bezel strip, and then doming by placing the ends of the pie section together.
