Abstract: A baffle assembly for use in a glassware forming machine to provide a settle blow to settle a gob in a parison forming mould cavity and a mould closing surface to close the mould cavity comprises a first member which comprises a mould cavity closing surface and settle blow air passages opening to positions spaced from the mould closing surface, and a second cup shaped member mounted on the first member for axial movement between an extended position and a second position in which a circumferential locating surface on the second member is substantially level with the end surface of the baffle head.

Abstract: A glassware forming machine of the individual section type comprising a parison-forming station (10), an article-forming station (14), parison transferring means operable to transfer parisons to the article-forming station, and article removing means operable to remove articles from the article-forming station. The parison transferring means comprises a carriage (100), parison gripping means (114) mounted on the carriage, and servo-controlled drive means (136) operable to move the carriage (100) to and from the article-forming station (14). The article removing means comprises a further carriage (210), article gripping means (226) mounted on the carriage (210), and drive means (218, 220) operable to return the carriage (210) to the article-forming station (14). The carriages (100 and 210) are so aligned that, as the carriage (100) moves to the article-forming station (14), it pushes the further carriage (210) away therefrom.

Abstract: A parison mold and baffle system for an automatic molding machine of the I-S type including a two piece split parison mold with an integral funnel thereon. The funnel portion terminates upwardly in an annular opening with walls of outwardly tapering cross section. A combined blow-down and baffle head has blow-down nozzles, a downwardly facing annular groove which is snugly received on the walls of the funnel in both the blow-down and mold closing baffle positions. Blow-down starts from the initial engagement of the blow-down and baffle head on the funnel and continues until said mold end is completely closed by the baffle.

Abstract: A parison mold and baffle system for an automatic molding machine of I-S type includes a two piece split parison mold with an integral funnel. A combined blow-down and baffle member cooperates with the mold in a first position to perform the blow-down function and then in a second position acts as the bottle bottom end of the mold during the blow-back final shaping of the parison.
