Pocket Welt, Frequently With Special Stitch Patents (Class 66/21)
  • Patent number: 7191622
Abstract: A method for knitting a garment includes knitting a design in the pouch of the garment in a non-reciprocatory manner. Such a method includes knitting a pouch and design in a non-reciprocatory manner with a single yarn feed such that the design is substantially flat. Such a method can include knitting a pouch with a single yarn and knitting a design in the pouch with a separate single yarn. Tuck stitches can be knit on each side of the pouch to secure loose yarn ends. Such a method can be useful for knitting a logo design in the heel pouch of a sock.

Abstract: A latch needle (1) has a latch spring (19), which assumes the width of the latch slit (5) in the vicinity of the latch seating (18). However, the latch spring (19) is embodied to be narrower on both sides of this section (25). By means of this, premature wear of the latch or spring in the area of the latch seating device (18) is counteracted on the one hand as is, on the other, the obstruction of the latch slit (5) by dust or dirt. The narrower sections (26, 27) of the latch spring (19) define a passage together with the inner face (8, 9) of the slit walls (6, 7), through which foreign bodies, such as fiber remnants, dust or the like can be conveyed from the upper needle side (11) in the direction toward the needle back (12). In contrast to conventional latch needles, needles (1) of this type of construction show reduced wear, a reduced susceptibility to becoming soiled, and therefore increased dependability.

  • Patent number: 6460380
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing knitted goods in general, hose in particular, with tridimensional effects or shaped goods, preferably fitted with at least one pocket automatically produced with the continuous motion of the needle cylinder. The usual knitted fabric production is modified by excluding, according to a preestablished order, sequences of needles (retaining the last loop or stitch) that are preferably alternated (1:1-2:2-3:1-etc.), even by groups. The knitted tube production goes on, even over several courses, with a differentiated growing, i.e. regions having full needles or ribs and regions having non-full needles or ribs, forming knitted layers or tubes (5, 6) concentric with the inner knitted tube folded upwardly and only partly interstitched or closed in the horizontal direction. The remaining part, which is open, corresponds to the two-layer pouch-like pocket, being the object of the invention.

  • Patent number: 6158254
Abstract: A double layer sock is formed on a circular knitting machine so that the inner layer and the outer layer are connected by knit stitches adjacent the toe portion and the inner and outer layer wales adjacent such connection are aligned. A section of knit courses is formed beyond the connected toe portion of both the inner and outer layer as an inner guide segment, an inner clip, an outer guide segment, and an outer clip, with each guide segment formed at a lower stitch density than either the toe portion or the clip that border the guide segment.

  • Patent number: 5802877
Abstract: A circular knitting machine for knitting a sock having a pocket knitted integrally with the foot portion includes a needle cylinder carrying long and short butt needles, a drive train for oscillating the needle cylinder in a normal first mode and a second mode 180 degrees out of phase relative to the first mode, a pair of needle raising cams positionable so as to engage only the long butt needles during the knitting of the toe pocket, a lifter for holding the long butt needles in an up position during the knitting of the toe pocket, and a pair of stitch cam for engaging the needles to form the stitches. During the formation of the toe pocket, the short butt needles are pushed downwardly out of action below the knitting height while maintaining their stitches and the long butt needles are oscillated 180 degrees out of phase to form the toe pocket.

  • Patent number: 5285662
Abstract: The single-cylinder circular knitting machine has a vertically arranged needle cylinder with a skirt defining a plurality of axial grooves. Each groove slidingly accommodates a needle. A platen is arranged coaxially above the needle cylinder, and a plurality of radial grooves is defined therein. Each one of the radial grooves accommodates a hook which is movable by the action of actuation cams which can be engaged, during rotation of the platen about its axis, with a heel of the hooks, from a position in which the hooks are retracted in the platen to an extraction position, and vice versa. The machine is provided with a hook locking device which is arranged proximate to the platen and is controllably engageable with the hooks to keep them in the retracted position in the platen.
