Abstract: The dyeing apparatus for carrying out laboratory tests comprises a dyeing chamber which can be sealingly coupled to at least one portion of the fabric to be dyed, means being additionally provided for displacing the dyeing liquid, adapted to carry out a sequence of alternate passages of the dyeing liquid through said fabric to be dyed.
Abstract: A wash tank adapted for use with a carbon dioxide cleaning medium has a body member having a front opening formed therein, the body member having side walls and a back wall opposite the front opening. The side walls terminate in a front body member edge portion that defines the front opening. The edge portion serves in the sealing mechanism, as discussed below. A substantially cylindrical basket is disposed within the body member for rotation about a generally horizontal axis. The basket has a front opening formed therein, and has a side wall and a back wall opposite the front opening. The basket side wall terminates in a front basket edge portion defining the basket front opening. The said basket edge portion is spaced forward from the body member edge portion when the basket is positioned in the body member, serving to prevent loose garments or materials placed within the basket from becoming caught in the seal and interfering with seal integrity.

Abstract: The screens of a pulp treating vessel, such as a paper pulp thickener, or diffuser, are back flushed in a simple yet effective manner. The screens are mounted to a supporting conduit within a vertical vessel, and a cylinder is connected at one open end to the conduit, and the other open end is disposed within the pulp inside the vessel. A piston is mounted within the cylinder and relative movement between the piston and cylinder is effected periodically in order to force liquid from within the cylinder into the conduit and out the screens, backflushing the screens and preventing clogging. Since no additional volume of liquid is added to the vessel during backflushing, no surge occurs in the vessel. Conventional accumulators, on/off valves, and the like can be eliminated while--in the case of diffusion washing--efficiency can be increased as much as 20-30%, and capacity increased as much as about 15%.
