Further, they have other characterizing features which consist in that the apparatus is provided with a liquid injecting nozzle and/or a gas blowing nozzle and/or a hot air blowing nozzle for allowing liquid and/or gas and/or hot air to be injected and/or blown into the interior of the rotary drum whereby a period of time required for performing steps of washing, dewatering and drying the wash in the rotary drum can be shortened.

    Abstract: A substantially self-contained system and corresponding method provides practical spot cleaning of soiled garments without requiring the use of chlorinated solvents. A soiled garment may optionally be pretreated with a water base, nonchlorinated cleaner. Thereafter, a relatively high level of vacuum force is applied to the soiled garment to be cleaned while steam is directed onto the spot. The steam comprises the main cleaner when no pretreatment is used, and comprises the flushing agent whenever a water-based pretreatment cleaner is used. Drying effects obtained with the vacuum force may be augmented by the addition of compressed air directed onto the garment. A self-contained workstation practicing such methodology may include an electric water boiler for generating steam and an industrial grade vacuum pick-up with a waste collector for generating the relatively high vacuum force, preferably at least about 80 inches of mercury of static pressure.

In addition, the present invention is further directed to an improvement of the above-mentioned technique.

    Abstract: A drum-type washing machine includes a resin drum which is rotatably supported in a frame by a horizontal shaft. The resin drum includes a body portion molded out of a synthetic resin, and an end surface formed at one end of the body portion, the other end being open. A fluid balancer positioned at the open end of the body portion includes a hollow annular member and a predetermined amount of saltwater sealed therein. The drum diameter is increased from the one end to the other end by utilizing a taper or slope from a plastic molding process. Therefore, the wash in the drum, in operation, moves to the vicinity of the fluid balancer at the other end of the drum along the slope of the inner surface of the drum, thereby to produce a maximum balancing effect of the fluid balancer.

When the washed or rinsed laundry is dehydrated, water is drained from the outer tub, the rotation-support member and the inner tub are rotated together about the vertical axis in the same direction at the same high speed.

    Abstract: A laundry washing machine includes a wash tub, a basket for receiving laundry and mounted for rotation within the wash tub, a recirculating duct extending from the bottom of the wash tub to an upper portion thereof, and a pump for recirculating the washing liquid through the duct from the bottom of the wash tub to the upper portion thereof. A housing is attached to the top of the wash tub to define a chamber, and the duct extends into the housing such that the washing liquid pumped by the pump through the duct is discharged into the chamber. Heater elements are located within the chamber to thereby heat the washing liquid discharged into the chamber. The interior of the chamber communicates with the interior of the wash tub through an overflow weir. The machine further may include an air drying circuit whereby air is recirculated through an air duct by means of a fan from the bottom of the wash tub to the chamber, wherein the recirculated air is heated by the heating elements.

    Abstract: A washing machine has a stationary tub with drain outlets at the bottom periphery. A venturi conduit extends from the bottom of the tub opening upward along the axis of the tub to produce a toroidal flow of water in an open basket in the tub seated on an annular disk surrounding the venturi opening. The annular disk is mounted on rollers at the bottom of the tub and carries permanent magnets. An annular driving member also carrying magnets is located below the bottom of the tub surrounding the conduit connected to the venturi and carries permanent magnets opposite those on the annular disk inside the tub. A pulley at the bottom of the driving member is coupled by a belt to the pulley on a drive motor. A pump is connected between the venturi and the tub outlets. A selectively operable valve controls the flow of water between the venturi and a drain outlet. This assembly is contained in a cabinet having an opening covered by a lid. The opening is large enough to allow removal and insertion of the open basket.

    Abstract: The washing machine functions according to a new principle and contains the washable items, particularly washable textiles, in stacked layers in a mesh cage which is fixed in position at a drum rotatably mounted in a casing. Wash water as well as drying air flows through the preferably stationary or slowly rotating drum containing the washable items, is pumped off at an outlet of the casing, and returns again by way of a recirculation pipe to an inlet of the casing. Intermittent rotation of the drum, for example, by 180.degree., is also possible. In this manner, the wash water or drying air passes through the washable items first from one side and then from the opposite side. All switching procedures are electronically controlled according to a preselected program schedule. The washable items no longer can be damaged by catching on the drum, the wash cycle is more effective and thus shorter than before, and electric energy and chemicals are saved.

    Abstract: A combination clothes washer and dryer of the domestic type, powered by a 110 volt, 15 or 20 ampere residential power line, includes a motor driven washer, and a motor driven tumbler type dryer supplied with heated air by an electrical resistance heater. When simultaneous operation of the washer motor and dryer motor occurs, power supplied to the electrical resistance heater is automatically reduced by half so as to allow the washer motor, dryer motor, and resistance heater to continue operating without exceeding the power providing capabilities of the residential power line. Such power reduction is provided by a half-wave rectifier in the form of a diode switched into series circuit relationship with the resistance heater when the washer motor is operating.

In a third, center zone located between the entry ring and the exit ring of the expander, the tubular textile material is exposed to substantially radially outwardly directed suction of the drying air which may cause undesirable deformation of the tubular textile material. A gas-permeable substantially cylindrical jacket is provided in the center zone. This jacket envelopes the tubular textile material which bears against the inner wall of the jacket during the drying, whereby such deformations are avoided or controlled.

To date the existing problems can only be solved with squeeze rollers which, however, have an adverse effect on the goods.According to the invention the textile rope is now introduced into a treatment store of a liquid-operated jet apparatus, is subjected to the action of the treatment liquor, is then carried along by a steam- or more generally gas-operated jet arrangement and conveyed into an interim store, where dewatering takes place. From the interim store the goods, with satisfactory dilution factor, are then passed to the next isothermal or non-isothermal treatment stage of the same or a very similar structure.

    Abstract: A top loading clothes washer pivotally supported so that it can be installed underneath a stationary structure and tilted forward for loading and unloading clothes. The pivotal support is provided by a stable base which also includes apparatus such as a hook for preventing forward tilting past a predetermined loading and unloading tilt-out position. The front of the washer is truncated and the tilt axis is backward from the truncation but forward from the washer center of gravity. In the upright washing position, rear feet on the washer provide support for the washer and also engage the base to horizontally secure the washer to the base for stability during spin dynamics. A biased hinge covering the front truncation provides backward torque about the tilt axis so that the washer feet carry a significant amount of the washer weight.
